Tony Curtis landed his first film role simply by walking through the Universal lot where he was spotted by director Robert Siodmak who asked him if he could dance.
The film was to be produced by Mark Hellinger, but he died suddenly in 1947, right after completing The Naked City (1948).
The Thompsons' family home at 215 N Hill St was owned, designed, and built by Octavius Morgan of the well-known architectural firm of Morgan & Walls. The six-flat building went up in 1906 and cost $12K. Morgan owned the two homes to the north too, Nos. 219 and 223. Running east west through the block, alongside No. 223, is Lancaster Place.
