Bulgarian film Fear, directed by Ivaylo Hristov, has won the top prize at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. The consideration of small-town racism, shot through with absurdist comedy, was given the Grand Prix by a jury headed by former Edinburgh Film Festival director Mark Adams.
The jury said: “A beautifully made film that astutely balances dry humour with important contemporary drama. This clever, impressively scripted and wonderfully performed feature manages the rare feat of being compassionate and provocative while also delivering striking moments of absurdist humour. At a period when the subject of immigration is very much in the headlines this feature is very much a film for our times.”
Turkish director Nisan Dağ was named Best Director for her hip-hop drama When I'm Done Dying about a wannabe rap star struggling with addiction in Istanbul, while Best Script went to writer/director Leonardo Antonio's Submission,...

This Fear the Walking Dead review contains spoilers.
Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 7
The last time I struggled to write a review for Fear the Walking Dead was the season 4 finale, “…I Lose Myself.” I wrote at the time, “Several false starts and a couple thousand words later, I realized I wasn’t writing a review for a lackluster episode. Rather, I was writing a eulogy for a show I once loved.”
Unfortunately, history seems to be repeating itself. And this is a difficult thing to admit, since season 6 showed so much promise. If this season could be described as a single color, it would be greige, the nearly nonexistent color that exists between beige and grey. Greige is the color of long-in-the-tooth zombies. It is the color of leftover oatmeal. Greige is, in a word, the very color of boredom itself. Season 6 hasn’t been all bad, of course.

How British comics Bunty and Mandy had more fun with science fiction and fantasy stories than they were ever given credit for...
In some ways, the 80s and early 90s weren’t such a terrible time for young girls and speculative fiction. We had a few of our own exciting toy-based animated shows, like She-Ra and Jem And The Holograms – but the really big franchises aimed at us were things like My Little Pony and Care Bears, which while full of magic and joy didn’t have the same kind of appeal for slightly older girls as stuff like Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Thundercats. In much of the really popular kids’ media of the time, a girl was something you had one of, just sort of hanging around. I’d watch every Turtles episode hoping that April would get something cool to do this week.

The science fiction world suffered a great loss with the death of the legendary Ray Bradbury, who departed this universe on June 5th 2012 at the age of 91. An incredible influence on the genre during the forties and fifties, Bradbury re-defined 20th Century American fiction with a prolific output that tackled a wide variety of subjects. But it was science fiction that he will be best remembered for. Most of his short stories and novels depicted a bleak utopian future ruled by media technology. This was made all the more unique by the fact that Bradbury never drove a car. His most famous works are The Illustrated Man, Fahrenheit 451 and The Martian Chronicles.
The family tree itself had one interesting skeleton in the cupboard. Bradbury’s ancestor was Mary Bradbury, who was tried as a witch during the infamous Salem Witch Trials of 1692. She was married to Massachusetts born Captain Thomas Bradbury.

Stephen King is undeniably one of the most recognised household names in modern literature. A prolific idea machine, King’s schlocky, pulp-style delivery and liberty-taking use of prose is an instant turn-off for some. But it can’t be denied that many of the concepts that he dreams up are truly touched by greatness.
There are a ridiculous number of varying movie/TV adaptations from throughout the length and breadth of Stephen King’s career; believe me, I counted them. In all, I found evidence that no less than eighty-four various projects (from shorts to feature films and the gamut in-between) have been adapted out of Stephen King’s novelizations and short stories. And chances are you’ve seen a good chunk of them, even if you’re not aware of it.
Of course they’re not all great, not by a long shot. Some of them are downright drivel (the T.
