Jason Kay was born in Stretford, England, on December 30, 1969. After moving to East London with his mother Karen Kay, a jazz singer, in his teens, Jay found himself homeless after a fight with his mum. Jay became involved in the street culture and took on many jobs in order to get by.
After an unsuccessful audition to become the new lead singer for The Brand New Heavies, Jay formed his own band with Stuart Zender, Toby Smith, Nick Van Gelder and Wallis Buchanan (although the line up has now changed significantly). Their first album as Jamiroquai, 1993's Emergency on Planet Earth, was a hit, and the band's latest - and fifth- album, A Funk Odyssey (2001) was a huge success.- Music Artist

Jason Kay grew up with his mother. She was born in Lancashire in northern England, was an adopted child and is therefore the only blood relative he knows of. The father left the young family before he was born, so he never got to know him. Before he was a year old, his mother received engagements in Las Vegas and later in Nigeria. Nevertheless, during his youth they lived in extremely poor conditions in which they had to leave the city at night and slept in the car because they were unable to pay for the hotel room. They had their first hopes of improvement since the early 1980s, when Karen Kay was given her own show on the English broadcaster BBC, which she moderated. Jason now received regular school lessons and his first real home. Jason was drawn to music from an early age and from his youth he was obsessed with the idea of becoming a musician like his mother.
Kay dropped out of school to earn money for instruments and equipment in various jobs. His mother knew the problems of being a musician and asked him to learn a more promising profession. Nevertheless, he had a loving relationship with his mother, which has not changed to this day. After his first recordings of his music, he was convinced that he was doing the right thing. The most important thing in this decision was that he liked his music and had found a form of expression. He quit his job and composed several pieces that got him his first record deal after just six weeks in 1990. After initial success, he founded the band "Jamiroquai" in 1992 and thus became a success story par excellence. The name came from a play on words between "Jason", "Jam" and "Iroquois".
Early on, Jason not only showed great potential for creativity, but also a high degree of commercial flair. So the band members didn't become equals, but rather his employees, and Jason shuffled off his contracts as a solo artist. The single "When you gonna learn" was released in the first year. The work was quite successful, but they switched from their contract with "Acid Jazz" to "Sony Musik S2", which signed the band for eight albums. However, when Sony wanted to get involved with a producer in the production, a dispute almost broke out. Sony gave in and Jason Kay produced his debut album "Emergency on Planet Earth" in 1993, from which the single "Too young to die" was already listed in the British top ten and the album reached number one after four days. All subsequent works were no less successful, which also benefited him financially. Despite his passion for powerful engines, Jason Kay became an avowed environmentalist and regularly supports projects such as Greenpeace.
Since 1998, Jason Kay has been producing in his own studio, which he set up in his historic country estate near London, which is surrounded by a park of almost 300,000 square meters. In 2001 the album "A Funk Odyssey" was released, which is noticeably influenced by disco. The sixth album entitled "Dynamite" followed in 2005. The following year, Jamiroquai moved to Columbia Records. Privately he settled in Horsenden, Buckinghamshire.- Frank Pemberton was born on 14 September 1914 in Stretford, Manchester, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Coronation Street (1960), Probation Officer (1959) and Coronation Street: First Dry Run (1960). He was married to Sheila Cook and Jean Marlow. He died on 26 March 1971 in Copthorne, Sussex, England, UK.
- Derek Geoffrey Hersey (October 26, 1956 - May 28, 1993) was a British rock climber and for many years an active participant in the Boulder town climbing scene in Colorado. He was 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) tall and weighed 63 kg (138 lb).
Hailing from Stretford, Greater Manchester, England, Hersey called Eldorado Canyon his "office", where he could be seen any day of the week, if not on a road trip to Yosemite National Park or somewhere else. He appears in archival footage in several climbing movies like "Front Range Freaks", "Free Solo", The Alpinist"... Hersey was introduced to rock climbing by his father, who hiked near Manchester every week. Hersey learned to climb on the gritstone in the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire. In 1983, after living unemployed for five years in England, Hersey decided to travel to the United States, where he a would remain for the rest of his life. Hersey specialized in unroped "free solo" climbing, often in the 5.10-5.11 rating. Few climbers have attempted to repeat his feats, which included many of the toughest traditional routes in Colorado.
Constantly pushing the limits of his sport, he was nicknamed "Dr. Death". Hersey was renowned for his exploits at Eldorado Canyon, but his resume of many other tough climbs (and descents) extends to other lands; Among them was his free solo ascent of Crack of Fear, a sustained 5.10+ out-of-width route at Lumpy Ridge, Colorado and an impressive effort on the Diamond (a 275-meter (902-foot) wall on Longs Peak), when he solo climbed two routes and descended another in a single day. He was well known for running the 5.10 Rosy Crucifixion route up and down in Eldorado Canyon as a workout.
Derek Hersey died on May 28, 1993 in an accident while solo climbing the Steck-Salathé route on Sentinel Rock in Yosemite National Park, falling several dozen meters. Although there was no reported rainfall in the area that day, Craig Luebben, a friend of Hersey and an official report concludes that "rain-smoothed rock" had led to its fall. The search for Hersey's body was featured in a report on CBS News' 48 Hours. - L.S. Lowry was born on 1 November 1887 in Stretford, Manchester, England, UK.
