Brent Eyestone is the founder of Dark Operative, a music company established in 2018 to assist established artists in an evolved capacity. The company invests heavily in the upkeep of artists' mental and physical health, places music in motion picture and television projects, and provides other vital services intended to sustain the longevity and well-being of careers in creativity.
In 1997, Eyestone started Magic Bullet Records in his college apartment, where he also served as President of Penn State's late night, non-alcoholic weekend programming. Eyestone ran Magic Bullet Records for 20 years before establishing both Dark Operative and the Pax Aeternum Digital imprint. He has toured and performed around the world with various bands and currently writes, records, and performs with the acts Highness, Bleach Everything, and Harmonic Cross.
Eyestone was elected to the Board of Directors for The Skatepark Project in 2020, where he serves as Treasurer on the Executive Board alongside Tony Hawk, Jim Thiebaud, and Mimi Knoop. Other areas of his philanthropic efforts include food bank fund raising, clean water well projects, and mental health awareness.
In music licensing, Eyestone has placed his clients' works into thousands of film, television, and commercial projects worldwide. The 2012 Academy Awards Best Picture Award montage (presented by Tom Cruise) was synced entirely to This Will Destroy You's "The Mighty Rio Grande." Brad Pitt and Bennett Miller's passionate enthusiasm for This Will Destroy You yielded 5 syncs in "Moneyball" alone, followed by another placement in Pitt's subsequent "World War Z," and Miller's next film "Foxcatcher." In addition to countless other films and trailers (A24's "Room," "American Sniper," "The Purge," "The Taking of Pelham 123," et al), Eyestone has facilitated prime/feature licensing across all major sporting events (Super Bowl, World Series, Stanley Cup, Wimbledon, ESPY's, et al), cultural shifts (the UFC's roll out package for Ronda Rousey), career moments (Tony Parker's retirement ceremony), and numerous Emmy-award winning and nominated dramas on television (including "Where Soldiers Come From").
Dark Operative received a 2020 GRAMMY nomination in the "Best Performance" category in heavy metal for Power Trip's "The Executioner's Tax (Swing of the Axe)" from the "Live in Seattle 05.28.18" album.
Eyestone has produced and distributed over 300 albums throughout his career. In addition to This Will Destroy You and Power Trip, his credits include working with The All-American Rejects, Old Man Gloom, Christie Front Drive, Lymbyc Systym, Boysetsfire, Caspian, and Cave In.
In recent years, Eyestone has expanded into immersive entertainment and experiences, including facilitating the custom score by This Will Destroy You for 2-star Michelin restaurant Vespertine in Culver City and developing custom scores and game-play in Southern California's most tech-reliant escape rooms.
