An award-winning director and University of New Haven Alum and Gonzaga University, Chris Schnabel has always been one to push the extra mile. Whether it was during his undergrad becoming the director, producer, writer, and editor for the campus talk show "UNH Late Night Charge," or creating "Off Stage" with no backing or budget because he wanted to make it happen. When Chris puts his mind to it, he makes it happen.
But his passion for storytelling doesn't stop at video production. Chris has also delved into the world of podcasting, showcasing his versatility and creativity. He has created two podcasts that have gained recognition and a dedicated following. The first is "Mad Props with Chris Schnabel," where he interviews some of the top professionals in various fields, including renowned musicians like Rev Run, Waka Flocka, and Charlie Rosen, as well as influential figures such as Jim Obergefell, the plaintiff in the historic Supreme Court case on same-sex marriage. The podcast allows listeners to gain insights into the lives and experiences of these fascinating individuals.
In addition to "Mad Props," Chris also hosts "Sketching Up," a podcast focused on cartoons, comics, and everything related to the world of animated storytelling. As an avid fan of these mediums, Chris dives deep into discussions about popular cartoons, comic book adaptations, and the creative minds behind them. Through "Sketching Up," he celebrates the artistry and impact of animation and comic books, engaging with listeners who share the same passion.
However, his expertise doesn't end there. Chris has had the opportunity to work with prestigious companies and organizations, showcasing his talent in various capacities. From his time at Gonzaga, where he worked as a producer for the official campus podcast "Zags on Air," to his contribution as a producer for the official podcast of the Vegas Golden Knights in 2022, Chris has proven his ability to deliver high-quality content across different platforms. Additionally, he has worked with well-known entities such as the Boston Red Sox, the United States Tennis Association (USTA), and Harvard University, expanding his professional network and gaining valuable experiences in the industry.
In 2022, he created the short film "DJ Gurule: Rebuilding a Culture" as a student project. The film delves into the journey of coach DJ Gurule as he transitions from being a successful women's tennis coach at Gonzaga to coaching the men's team. Since its release, the film has garnered recognition, being accepted into five film festivals and even premiering internationally in 2022.
Chris serves as the Video and Social Media Manager for Hartford Athletic of the United Soccer League.
