Gravity Falls could possibly be resurrected as Executive Vice President of Television Animation and Disney Branded Television Meredith Roberts hinted they’re in talks with the show’s creator.
In a new interview, Roberts revealed that they are looking into bringing back the animated series and have approached Alex Hirsch to make it happen.
“You know, we’re in conversations with Alex. He’s about to publish a book with Disney on his project. And we also do some shorts. So never say never,” Roberts told The Direct.
Gravity Falls was created by Hirsch and premiered on Disney Channel in 2012 with a 20-episode order. The show follows the adventures of Dipper Pines (voiced by Jason Ritter) and his twin sister, Mabel (voiced by Kristen Schaal), as they spend a summer with their great-uncle Stan (voiced by Hirsch) in Gravity Falls, Oregon. Robin Roberts, the Good Morning America anchor, says there’s a silver lining in the current entertainment industry turmoil.
“I know there’s a lot of uncertainty right now in the industry, and we’re all experiencing it. I just look at that meaning there are endless possibilities. We have endless possibilities with the production company,” Roberts said during a keynote address at the Banff World Media Festival on Sunday.
Besides her day job with the ABC morning show, Roberts is also president of her own production banner, Rockin’ Robin Productions. And she’s at Banff to drum up business for her production company, as well as receive the A&e Inclusion Award at the Rockie Awards gala.

Steven Spielberg’s works speak for themselves. Over the years, he has been labeled as one of the most respected directors of all time, and his pure talent can be credited for this. However, even the mightiest have their bad days, and the director has certainly released some films that did not work. One of the best examples of such a film would be his 1991 film, Hook.

A lot was going on during the production of the movie. The film famously had some very difficult times when it came to its cast, budget, and the director himself. Amid this, Spielberg and Julia Roberts seemed to have some serious bad blood. The actress was going through a serious breakup, and there were a lot of eyes on the film. This made her performance quite a tedious one for the director.

Julia Roberts has donned quite a few iconic roles among the likes of Anna Scott in Notting Hill and Erin Brockovich in Erin Brockovich. And yet, none of her fan-favorite roles is still regarded as incredibly successful and popular as Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman.
But what many people don’t know is that she nearly lost that role right after scoring it.

Although surprising it may seem, Roberts originally bagged the role when the film was under production with a different studio and a whole other storyline.
However, within a mere three days of her getting the chance to play Ward in the iconic rom-com from 1990, the actress pretty much temporarily lost the role — that was until one producer came to the rescue: Garry Marshall.

Gravity Falls fans may have some hope for new episodes, according to a recent interview with The Direct. Executive Vice President of Television Animation and Disney Branded Television Meredith Roberts said they are in talks with the original creator, Alex Hirsch.
Roberts also said, “Never say never,” regarding more of the popular show.
Gravity Falls ran from June 15, 2012, until February 15, 2016, and had 40 episodes. There were also many tie-in books.
It was an incredibly popular show with a large fanbase. My whole family loved it. In fact, the kids were re-watching episodes just a couple of weeks ago.

One of the most celebrated comedies of 1999 is “Notting Hill,” starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Written by Richard Curtis and directed by Roger Michell, the film tells of a famous movie actress named Anna Scott who falls in love with a small-town England bookstore owner named William Thacker. Released 25 years ago in May 1999, “Notting Hill” was a major box office success, grossing $364 million worldwide on a $42 million budget. Read on for more about the “Notting Hill” 25th anniversary.
The nation’s critics gave mostly positive reviews to “Notting Hill,” unusual for a studio romantic comedy. Derek Elley in Variety wrote, “[The film] has buckets to spare of that rarest screen commodity — genuine, engaging charm — plus a cast and production values that fully deliver.” Wesley Morris in San Francisco Examiner said, “Director Michell isn’t content to rest on his stars’ slapstick laurels, mining instead the more sophisticated if subversive socio-romantic pratfalls in Curtis’ script.

The UK’s Independent Film Tax Credit (Iftc) has become law “in the nick of time” according to BFI chief executive Ben Roberts, moving on to the statute books just before Parliament is dissolved this week ahead of the UK General Election.

Warning: The following contains major spoilers for The Strangers, The Strangers: Prey At Night, and The Strangers: Chapter One.
Nothing sparks fear in the opening moments of a horror film like the words “based on actual events.” Many horror fans find comfort in reminding ourselves that “it’s just a movie,” but this ominous disclaimer smashes the illusion. Bryan Bertino’s landmark home invasion film, The Strangers, begins with a similar assertion, setting the stage for a night of pure terror. Ominous text delivers upsetting statistics of random crime before introducing us to the film’s victims.
Renny Harlin’s 2024 prequel The Strangers: Chapter One begins with a similar warning, but ups the ante by calculating the number of violent crimes that have occurred since the opening frame. It’s the perfect way to introduce stories designed to upend our collective understanding of personal safety.

Picture two protests involving the American flag.
In one of them, a star NFL quarterback kneels during the singing of the national anthem. The reason? To call attention to the true, real plight of Black Americans whose lives seem not to matter as much as white ones — part of the unfinished business of American democracy. For this, he is booed, vilified, and effectively banned from the NFL. He never works as a quarterback again.

Ever since Roberts joined Lancôme as the brand ambassador, the French luxury cosmetics house has been a cult favorite of many women. She was originally paid $20 million for her deal with the L’Oréal-owned company, but her payment was upped when the company sealed a five-year deal with the Pretty Woman actress.

Comcast, as its legacy cable TV business continues to shrink, has built a new cable-style bundle for the streaming era.
Beginning next week, the cable giant will offer StreamSaver, a package that includes NBCUniversal’s Peacock Premium (with ads), Netflix Basic (with ads) and Apple TV+ for a discounted price, available to TV and broadband customers in its footprint.
As an add-on to Comcast Xfinity TV or broadband, the StreamSaver bundle will cost $15 per month — a discount of at least 35% compared with price of the services purchased separately. In addition, Comcast will offer Netflix and Apple TV+ to its Now TV streaming-only service, which has Peacock and 40 free, ad-supported streaming TV channels, for $30 per month (versus $20/month without them). To get Comcast’s Now TV requires you to subscribe to Xfinity Internet.

The contributions of Black artists to country music have been marginalized, minimized, and, in some cases, wholly erased from the genre’s history. A group of songwriters, singers, activists, and journalists aimed to set the record straight on Wednesday during a live panel discussion in Nashville. Dubbed “Act III: A Conversation Around ‘Three Chords and the Actual Truth,’” the event was presented by the Black Music Action Coalition and the org’s co-founder, president, and CEO, Willie “Prophet” Stiggers.

Following the Capitol riots in 2021, an upside-down U.S. flag flew outside the home of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito.
The New York Times published a photo of the inverted flag, reporting that it was seen at the Alitos’ home in Alexandria, Virginia, on January 17, 2021, for several days, distressing neighbors.
“I had no involvement whatsoever in the flying of the flag,” Alito said in an emailed statement. “It was briefly placed by Mrs. Alito in response to a neighbor’s use of objectionable and personally insulting language on yard signs.”
His wife, Martha-Ann Alito, fought with another family in the neighborhood about an anti-Trump sign placed on their lawn.
The neighbors perceived the flag as a political statement. In the weeks after the 2020 election, the upside-down flag had become a symbol of the “Stop the Steal” movement, in which Donald Trump’s supporters falsely claimed that Joe Biden’s victory...

Summer is coming, but streamers want you to bundle up.
It has long not been an original thought to say that streaming is starting to look more and more like cable, but the industry has been taking new steps to ensure the comparison doesn’t die. On Tuesday, Comcast chief Brian L. Roberts revealed a coming bundle between NBCUniversal’s Peacock, Apple’s Apple TV+, and Netflix’s, well, Netflix. We did not get a price point or a launch date, but we do have a name: StreamSaver. Roberts promised significant savings, hence the name.
If the StreamSaver announcement sounds familiar, it’s probably because that is the precise promise of an also newly announced Summer 2024 Disney bundle between Disney+, Hulu, and Max. Disney has long-experienced the strength of a bundle with two options for consumers to combine its in-house streaming services: the duo is Disney+ and Hulu, the trio adds ESPN+.

Both House of the Dragon and Fallout immediately became international hits, and they share quite a few similarities between them — they both throw immensely talented but ultimately underrated actors into increasingly dangerous situations in beloved fictional worlds that were once very niche. Speaking of HotD and Fallout’s stars, though, these series brought many of them the recognition they deserved.
And now, they’re ready to tackle their next big challenge: killer squirrels. What?
New Horror Comedy Stars Talents from Iconic Shows
As recently reported by Screen Daily, director Craig Roberts is currently working on a new project: a horror comedy movie with an utterly bizarre premise. In The Scurry, a band of deranged killer squirrels decides to seek revenge on the visitors and staff of a nearby eco-café, leading the mortified and terrified humans to defend themselves.
For his upcoming flick, Roberts booked two stars from the biggest sensations of the past two years.

Whilst we're still here trying to catch our breath and wolf down a post-match banana after Challengers, director Luca Guadagnino has already left the court to get the ball rolling on his next cinematic outing. And having already signed up Julia Roberts for upcoming thriller After The Hunt, the Italian auteur behind Bones And All and Call Me By Your Name seems to have tracked down his next leading man: Andrew Garfield.
As first reported by Deadline, the Spider-Man: No Way Home and Tick, Tick... Boom! is currently in negotations to star alongside Roberts in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios production, slated for theatrical release in 2025. Coming from first-time screenwriter Nora Garrett, the film, described as an "intense dramatic thriller", centres around a college professor (Roberts) who finds both her professional and private life thrown into turmoil when a star pupil levels a scandalous accusation against one of her colleagues.

Hollywood lost a real gem when Heath Ledger passed away in 2008. In the few years he had on this planet, the legendary actor was able to bring out the best in the film industry with his performances in films like 10 Things I Hate About You and Brokeback Mountain. He was a part of a total of 18 movies, two of which were released after his untimely demise.

According to Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, the new bundle, called the StreamSaver, will be available to all Comcast broadband and TV customers at a “vastly reduced price to anything in the market today” during his presentation at MoffettNathanson’s 2024 Media, Internet, and Communications Conference.

Following Challengers, Luca Guadagnino will next direct After The Hunt, adding Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield to the cast.
Luca Guadagnino is flying high at the moment with the release of Challengers, the highly-anticipated love triangle tennis drama that has been scoring excellent reviews.
Guadagnino also has Queer on the way later this year too. That sounds equally promising given that Guadagnino is directing Daniel Craig in an adaptation of the William Burroughs book of the same name. That one shot last year and is set to release sometime this year (we think).
Looking beyond that, Guagagnino has a packed slate (more on that below) but when news broke last month that the director would be working with Julia Roberts on a project for Amazon, we suspected it might get fast-tracked and that seems to be the case.

Andrew Garfield has tracked down a lead role opposite Julia Roberts in a new thriller from Luca Guadagnino that is set in the world of academia.
Garfield is in negotiations to star opposite Roberts in the forthcoming Amazon MGM Studios feature After the Hunt. Guadagnino (Challengers) is set to direct from a script by Nora Garrett, with the film aiming to start production this summer.
Hailing from Imagine Entertainment, After the Hunt focuses on a college professor who is forced to confront her own dark past when a prominent student makes an accusation against one of her colleagues.
Imagine’s Allan Mandelbaum brought the script to the production company and worked with CAA to land Roberts and Guadagnino. Guadagnino serves as a producer alongside Imagine’s Mandelbaum and Brian Grazer.
