Actor Patrick Wilson is on board to produce a stage musical version of 80s cult film The Lost Boys. More details here:
If all you’ve ever wanted was a musical about some very attractive vampires, you’re in luck. Joel Schumacher’s 1987 cult film The Lost Boys is heading to the stage, with added songs!
Aquaman star Patrick Wilson will be producing alongside James Carpinello and Marcus Chait, as reported by Deadline. Wilson took a stab at directing this year, helming the fourth Insidious sequel, Insidious: The Red Door. While also reprising his role as Josh Lambert in the long-running horror franchise, Wilson also teamed up with Ghost to deliver a cover of the song “Stay” which played over the end credits.
The original The Lost Boys, which also spawned two sequels, followed brothers who moved to a new town, just to find out it’s the prime spot for some vampires.

It may seem hard to believe, but the Insidious franchise is getting long in the tooth! The first Insidious movie was released all the way back in 2010, kickstarting an unlikely string of movies under the watchful eye of Saw horror duo Leigh Whannell and James Wan.
At first, the franchise focused on the Lambert family, whose move to a new home coincided with their son Dalton falling into a mysterious coma. They soon found out that it wasn’t their home that was haunted, but their family. Thanks to the Lamberts’ ability to astral project their consciousnesses, they can access “The Further”, a purgatory dimension where they’re at risk of attracting restless spirits, demonic and otherwise.

It appears that we here at /Film are in collective agreement: November is the perfect month to catch up on all the spooky season stuff you didn't get around to in October. Great Thanksgiving films are few and far between, and unless you're just really into the winter holidays, it's too early to start diving into your favorite films and series about Christmas, Hanukkah, you name it. Plus, this is also the time of year when studios begin marching out their awards contenders in droves, so you've got to make room for those as well.
Case in point: For years now, November has seen Netflix roll out its first wave of serious Oscar hopefuls, and 2023 will be very much business as usual in that respect. That's not to say it's all prestige offerings and biopics for the next four weeks. For example, "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" fans will finally...

I haven’t seen much chatter about Insidious: The Red Door, the fifth film in the Insidious horror franchise (you can read our review Here), but movie-goers have obviously been showing up for it. The film had a very successful opening weekend, drawing in $32.65 million at the domestic box office and $64 million worldwide on a budget that’s said to be around $16 million. Now The Numbers has confirmed that Insidious: The Red Door has managed to become the highest-grossing film in the franchise at the worldwide box office. It’s currently sitting at a total of $174,382,000, surpassing its predecessor Insidious: The Last Key‘s final count of $172,811,971. And its theatrical run isn’t over yet.
As of right now, Insidious: The Red Door‘s domestic number sits at $78,082,000, so Insidious: Chapter 2 still holds the domestic record of $83,586,447. But if The Red Door can manage to pull in another $5 million and change at home,...

"Insidious: The Red Door," the fifth film in the "Insidious" series, will mark the directorial debut of actor Patrick Wilson. Many horror fans got to know Wilson not only as the star of the first two "Insidious" movies, but also as the affable ghost-hunter Ed Warren in several features set in the "Conjuring" universe. Wilson is horror's dad. He's also a long-working, talented actor who has appeared in any number of intense indie pieces, thrillers, superhero blockbusters, and Oscar-bait dramas. He has been nominated for two Tony awards (for "The Full Monty" and for "Oklahoma!") and an Emmy (for "Angels in America"), and is never anything less than a dynamic, serviceable screen presence.
In the "Insidious" movies, Wilson plays Josh Lambert, the father of a 10-year-old named Dalton (Ty Simpkins) who possesses astral projection powers. Dalton has unwittingly attracted demons and ghosts out of an eerie purgatorial realm called The...

Last week, Sony Pictures unveiled a trailer for the fifth film in the Insidious franchise, Insidious: The Red Door, which is set to reach theatres on July 7th. You can check that out in the embed above. As you may have gathered from other recent articles here on JoBlo, our own Chris Bumbray is currently attending CinemaCon, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners, in Las Vegas – and during the Sony presentation, he and other attendees had the chance to watch an extended trailer for Insidious: The Red Door.
Bumbray reports that the extended trailer “sets up the premise of the movie. The kid from the original, Dalton, is now haunted by The Further and the film seems to center around him. It actually looks pretty terrifying, but we didn’t see much more than the trailer that came out last week.” So the good news is...

Sony Pictures is heading back into The Further with the long-awaited Insidious 5, releasing in theaters everywhere on July 7, 2023, and we’ve learned that filming has now wrapped!
After starring in the first two movies as Josh Lambert, we learned in 2020 that Patrick Wilson is returning to the franchise as the *director* of the upcoming fifth installment.
Wilson writes on Instagram, “…lights out on our next installment of the Insidious franchise. Second leg of the journey is done. Now on to post. To my entire cast/crew…Thank You…for the drive, the passion, and the hours. And a big thanks to all the partners/spouses/families/friends who dealt with our wacky schedule.”

We had heard Insidious 5 was going to begin filming this month, so when producer Jason Blum shared a picture of himself and Insidious 5 director/star Patrick Wilson from the set last week, we thought it was to mark the beginning of production. “Insidious 5” finally has a release date. The hit horror franchise will make its way back into theaters on July 7, 2023 – five years after the previous installment, “Insidious: The Last Key,” debuted in January 2018.
Patrick Wilson will make his directorial debut on the film. He’s previously starred in the first two films (and had an additional cameo appearance in a third) as Josh Lambert. Here, Wilson will once again star in “Insidious 5,” alongside fellow returning cast member Ty Simpkins, who plays the eldest Lambert son, Dalton, whose demonic possession in the first film set the Lambert family on their journey into the supernatural realm known as the Further.
Scott Teems wrote the script based on a story by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell and Scott Teems, and based on characters created by Leigh Whannell. Jason Blum, James Wan, Leigh Whannell and Oren Peli produce. Executive producers are Steven Schneider, Ryan Turek and Brian Kavanaugh Jones.

“The Further is a world far beyond our own, yet it’s all around us, a place without time as we know it,” Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) explains in the 2011 occult horror film Insidious. “It’s a dark realm filled with the tortured souls of the dead, a place not meant for the living.” Director James Wan saw the astral world through the eyes of fear. It was how he was able to evoke the most terror from the nether regions of soul and thought.
Horror films have made a spiritual ghetto out of the universe which lies between dream, sleep and death. They focus on the malevolent realm of incubi, succubae and the Red-Lipstick-Face Demon. The map to the Further is not limited to shadowy studies. Many mystical practices are divided into black and white magic out of fear and superstition, but there can be room for both.

The first footage from Halloween Kills was unveiled today during Blumfest, a one-day online event focused on new and upcoming movie and TV projects from the Blumhouse production company.
The sequel to 2018’s Halloween, the successful, acclaimed reboot and follow-up to John Carpenter’s original 1978 classic, is bringing back several legacy characters from that movie, with the teaser giving us our first quick glimpses of three of them. Take a look and see if you can spot them!
At approximately :20 in the 36-second trailer, that is Nancy Stephens as Nurse Marion Chambers, who was Dr. Sam Loomis’ assistant in the original Carpenter film and played the role in Halloween II (1981) and Halloween H20 (1998). Although the character died in the latter film, the current Halloween movies pretty much ignore or retcon everything that happened in the sequels, so Marion is back!

David Zellner on Mia Wasikowska as Penelope in Damsel: "We're so happy. She was amazing. The film has a lot of stylization to it. From the kind of mythic quality of the West, but we like the idea of grounding in a certain dimension of complexity to the characters …"
