The Disney+ streaming platform is one of the largest streaming services in the world, with an estimated 111.3 million users worldwide. The service offers a vast library of movies and shows, both past and present, along with multiple exclusive programs to interest any viewer.
Just recently, Disney+ began the process of merging with Hulu, Disney’s other major streaming platform, which they acquired a majority of through the 2019 buyout of 20th Century Fox. Now, movies and shows not previously on the platform can be accessed. This includes some not-so-magical content that little kids should not be able to see.
It has been reported via X/Twitter user @SawHouse2004, a fan account dedicated to the popular horror movie franchise Saw, that a large portion of the film series is now viewable on Disney+.

Saw XI writer Marcus Dunstan recently provided an update on the ongoing development of the popular horror franchise's upcoming eleventh installment, slated for a September 26, 2025 release date. According to his conversation with Screen Rant, Saw XI is an "angry" film with "something new to say."
Dunstan previously co-wrote the scripts for Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, and Saw 3D with fellow scribe Patrick Melton. He's returning alongside director Kevin Greutert. In addition to directing the acclaimed tenth film Saw X, Greutert also directed Saw VI and Saw 3D.
Grossing more than $1.1 billion worldwide, Saw is a mega-popular horror franchise originally conceived by Leigh Whannell and James Wan, who produced the original 2004 film that introduced us to the twisted mind of John Kramer and his serial killer alias Jigsaw.

There are currently eight films in The Conjuring Universe, and as we recently learned, a ninth movie is actively in development. Last we heard, Michael Chaves is returning to the franchise to direct The Conjuring 4, which is reportedly said to be the final installment in the main series of The Conjuring movies.
In addition to another movie, The Conjuring is also headed to the small screen. The series for Max was originally announced in April 2023, and development continues here in 2024.
Max’s Casey Bloys tells Variety this week, “There are other properties [in development] like The Conjuring, which is a big movie franchise that we’re developing into a series.”
It had been well over a year since we heard a peep about Max’s planned The Conjuring television series, so it’s good to hear it’s still being cooked up. Stay tuned for more soon.

As soon as Saw X, the tenth entry in the Saw franchise (you can read our review Here), was released last September, franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules were already talking about the potential of a Saw XI. The official announcement came in December, along with a release date: September 27th… but they’ve decided to take a little extra time with this one, so a couple months ago it was announced that Saw XI won’t be reaching theatres until September 26, 2025. The script is still in the works, though, and now we know the name of at least one person behind it: Marcus Dunstan, who says this is going to be an “angry” film.

The "Insidious" franchise shows no signs of stopping. There's both a spin-off movie and a new sequel on the way, and the most recent entry, "The Red Door," was a big hit in 2023. And for the most part, this horror series has remained strong. Not every film works, but the majority of the entries are solid scare-fests full of all sorts of spooky mayhem. The series kicked-off all the way back in 2011 with James Wan's "Insidious," and now here we are all these years later, still waiting for more. With that in mind, why don't we go back through the entire franchise so far and rank the titles, from worst to best? Come along with us into the Further and watch out for jump-scares.

If you like to get your nerves tickled by a scary movie and want to watch a bunch of them in a row, we’ve got some good news for you. The most chilling horror trilogy of the 21st century finally arrives on Netflix, and it has no deal with Final Destination or Paranormal Activity and The Ring franchises, it’s something even better than these ones.

James Wan's recent sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, marked the end of what came to be known as the Dceu era, and as we head towards James Gunn and Peter Safran's Dcu relaunch, we've decided to rank all 15 movies in the franchise.
Warner Bros.' attempt to establish a shared movie universe in the same vein as The MCU began with Man of Steel in 2013, and despite some bright spots and box office successes along the way, most would agree that it never really took flight - at least not to the level DC fans were hoping for.
Things appeared to turn a corner with Wonder Woman, which led to a lot more optimism for the future of the Dceu overall. Of course, a lot of fans still felt that things were better when Zack Snyder was in the picture, and the positive reaction to the "Snyder...

Universal Studio Group has greenlit a new live-action horror comedy TV series based on “The Munsters”, titled “1313”, set within the ‘Universal Monsterverse’, from James Wan and Lindsey Anderson Beer:
The original 1960's sitcom depicting the home life of a family of Universal Studio monsters, was created by Allan Burns and Chris Hayward, starring Fred Gwynne as 'Herman Munster' and Yvonne De Carlo as his wife, 'Lily'.
The idea of a family of comical monsters was first suggested to Universal Studios in the late 1940's by animator Bob Clampett who wanted to produce a series of cartoons.
The project didn't see development until the early 1960's, when a treatment for a similar idea was submitted to Universal Studios by "Rocky & Bullwinkle" writers Burns and Hayward. This format was later handed to writers Norm Liebman and Ed Haas, who wrote the pilot script, "Love Thy Monster", retitled as...

Six decades or so ago, television was dominated by "wholesome" American family sitcoms, with shows like "Leave It to Beaver," "The Andy Griffith Show," and "Father Knows Best" serving as not only entertainment but as a model guide for viewers to emulate their own "perfect family." Assimilation was the key to an idyllic existence, but that doesn't make for an exciting TV lineup. Each network had its standard American family show, but in an attempt to motivate viewers not to touch that dial, they started diversifying what a family looked like.
No, that diversity did not come in the form of families of non-white races ("Good Times" wouldn't launch until 1974), but it did come with magical beings like "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Bewitched," or monstrously weird like "The Addams Family" and "The Munsters." Both "The Addams Family" and "The Munsters" are so beloved that the shows have been reimagined...

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines director Lindsey Anderson Beer has a whole lot of projects in the works at Paramount, from a new version of Sleepy Hollow to a film inspired by the American Girl toy brand – but that isn’t stopping her from teaming up with Universal Content Productions and genre regular James Wan (as well as his wife Ingrid Bisu) to develop a TV series called 1313, which is described as being a darker reimagining of the 1964 classic sitcom The Munsters. If 1313 gets a series order, Anderson Beer will be serving as the showrunner.
According to Deadline, 1313 will be “a horror series that plays on the Universal Monsterverse,” which makes sense, since the Munsters family included vampires, a little werewolf, and a version of Frankenstein’s Monster. As for the title of this new project, it comes from the fact that the Munsters lived in a house with the address 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

We're returning to 1313 Mockingbird Lane yet again for a new television version of The Munsters, this time planned as a "darker reimagining" of the series.
Horror icon James Wan is producing a new series for Universal Studio Group (Usg) alongside showrunner Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) and Ingrid Bisu. Wan's company, Atomic Monster, will produce this latest iteration alongside Lab Brew. The original 1964 sitcom initially aired on CBS for 70 episodes from 1964 to 1966.
According to Variety, the logline for this new version of The Munsters describes it as a horror show that "lives and breathes within the Universal Monsterverse." Between this, the recent success of Abigail (which was based on Dracula's Daughter), and the upcoming Wolf Man from Leigh Whannell, it seems like Universal is intent on making their "Dark Universe" work, even if it doesn't end up being interconnected like the MCU.

In the wake of Rob Zombie’s direct-to-video movie The Munsters back in 2022, Universal has now announced “1313,” a brand new small screen reboot of the iconic television series.

Executive producers are Lindsey Anderson Beer and James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett for Atomic Monster. Ingrid Bisu is a co-exec producer on the upcoming series.

The last time someone tried to dust off The Munsters for the small screen was in 2017, when NBC opted to reboot the comedy with Odd Mom Out creator Jill Kargman and Seth Meyers. The half-hour single-camera version was going to follow members of an offbeat family who are determined to stay true to themselves but struggle to fit in in hipster Brooklyn.

Emmy-nominated actor Theo James isn't slowing down when it comes to taking on new projects, and we couldn't be more elated about this. His most recent project was starring in the Netflix action-comedy series The Gentlemen. Now, he's confirmed to be starring in an upcoming supernatural horror film called The Monkey. More details on this movie are below.
Why does the title of this movie sound familiar, you ask? Well, it's because it's based on the king of horror, aka Stephen King's 1980 horror short story of the same name. It's a film adaptation of this short story with Longlegs director Osgood Perkins signed on as director. He also penned the screenplay.
The story follows twin brothers Hal and Bill, who, after discovering their father's old monkey toy in the attic, begin to witness a series of brutal deaths unfolding around them. The brothers decide to get rid of the...

As far as individual authors go, Stephen King is certainly in the top of the list of authors whose works have been adapted. He is right there with Agatha Christie, Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, and other authors whose works have been adapted often and in many forms. But unlike the aforementioned authors, King’s adaptations are usually original, while the other authors have seen their works adapted and remade more than once. In light of that fact, we can confirm that King’s story, “The Monkey,” had been adapted into a film this spring and the movie was presented to buyers at Cannes this year!
Knowing how popular King’s adaptations are, it was a sure thing that someone would buy the movie, and as it happens, Neon managed to nab the distribution rights for the upcoming movie and they have confirmed that a 2025 release date is currently planned.

Buyers at the Cannes Market were going bananas for Stephen King adaptation The Monkey, with the bidding war eventually being won out by Neon. While no financial details were made available, Deadline reports that the studio is aiming for a 2025 release.
Filming on The Monkey – which was first published in 1980 and subsequently reprinted in the essential King short story collection Skeleton Crew – wrapped in March. Directed by Oz Perkins (son of Anthony and whose Longlegs is also being distributed by Neon), the movie is notably produced by James Wan and features a cast of Theo James, Elijah Wood, Tatiana Maslany, Sarah Levy, Rohan Campbell, Christian Convery, and Colin O’Brien.
For those unfamiliar with Stephen King’s short story, The Monkey has the following plot: “When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them.

One of horror's most reliable franchises is coming back for a brand new installment next summer. While little has been revealed by way of specifics, Sony Pictures has dated "Insidious 6" for next summer. The film is now due to hit theaters on August 29, 2025, per Variety. Mark your calendars and plan accordingly, supernatural lovers of the world.
What's truly interesting is that this is just one of two new "Insidious" movies in the works at the moment. Sony and Blumhouse Productions are also collaborating on a spin-off titled "Thread: An Insidious Tale," which will star Mandy Moore ("47 Meters Down") and Kumail Nanjiani ("Eternals"). Jeremy Slater ("Moon Knight") set to write and direct. In short, the long-running franchise is expanding after taking a five-year break between 2018's "Insidious: The Last Key" and last year's "Insidious: The Red Door."
Dating back to director James Wan's original breakout hit "Insidious" in 2011, this franchise has been remarkably consistent.

Insidious might have had the shortest film retirement ever. Sony has set a release date for a sixth film in the franchise, August 29, 2025.
The news comes a little over a year after Blumhouse founder Jason Blum told Discussing Film that the fifth movie, Insidious: The Red Door, would be the last one "for a while." Adding that the franchise would go into a "very long rest," and potentially be revisited in ten years or so.
But to be fair to Blum, he did that interview before The Red Door made a killing at the box office, proving there is still fanfare for the popular horror franchise.
The Red Door, which marked star Patrick Wilson's directorial debut, outgrossed all four previous Insidious movies and became one of the highest-grossing horror movies of 2023, raking in over $189 million worldwide.
Sony did not reveal any plans for the sixth Insidious film, just the release date.

Back in January of 2022, we heard that Insidious franchise creator James Wan was producing a “Back to the Future meets Aliens” project that was set to be written and directed by Jeremy Slater, creator of the The Exorcist television series and head writer on the Marvel / Disney+ show Moon Knight. As the Wan / Blumhouse collaboration Insidious: The Red Door, the fifth film in that series, made its way out into the world last year, it was revealed that Slater’s movie was a spin-off called Thread: An Insidious Tale, which had Mandy Moore (This Is Us) and Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals) on board to star in it. Now Deadline reports that Sony has announced an August 29, 2025 release date for the next Insidious movie – and since Thread already had a writer/director and stars attached by mid-2023, it seems logical that it would be the movie with the 2025 release date. But Deadline...

Sony has dated a new film in its Insidious horror franchise from Blumhouse Productions for release on August 29, 2025, the studio revealed Thursday evening.
No further details about the project were disclosed, but this is not the Jeremy Slater-helmed Thread: An Insidious Tale, a spin-off starring Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani, on which we were first to report.
Marking the sixth entry in the franchise, this new Insidious film comes on the heels of Insidious: The Red Door, an entry marking franchise star Patrick Wilson’s feature directorial debut, which grossed over $189 million at the worldwide box office.
Launching in 2010, the Insidious franchise from James Wan and Leigh Whannell delves into the theme of hauntings, primarily focusing on the existence of a malevolent realm known as “The Further.” This otherworldly dimension is inhabited by vengeful spirits and demons that seek to infiltrate the world of the living, often resulting in...

A new entry in the “Insidious” franchise has been set for the theaters. The next installment of the Blumhouse Productions horror property, co-produced by Screen Gems, has been added to Sony’s theatrical slate, with the studio dating the film for an Aug. 29, 2025 release.
No further details on the project were disclosed, including whether series regulars such as Patrick Wilson and Leigh Whannell would be involved. Universal Pictures has just announced (via Deadline) release dates – in some cases, new release dates for movies that are shifting around on their schedule – for five upcoming horror films… and every one of them happens to be a Blumhouse production. The movies in question are The Woman in the Yard, Drop, The Black Phone 2, M3GAN 2.0, and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 – and we’re about to go through them one-by-one.
First up is the thriller The Woman in the Yard, which was once set to reach theatres on January 10, 2025, but was bumped out of that date so the Blumhouse reboot of Wolf Man could move from this October to January 17th. Jaume Collet-Serra is directing the film, which stars Danielle Deadwyler of The Devil to Pay and Till, Okwui Okpokwasili of The Exorcist: Believer and I Am Legend, and Russell Hornsby of The Hate U Give and Fences.

Remember the dancing yet murderous doll, M3GAN? Well, she'll soon be back in an upcoming horror film called M3GAN 2.0. This is the sequel to the box office hit M3GAN, and we can't wait to see it when it hits theaters on its (new) release date, June 27, 2025.
We first learned of a potential sequel back in November 2022 when The New York Times reported that Universal (the studio behind the film) was happy with how M3GAN turned out and was looking to make a second film. Then, in January 2023, M3GAN director Gerard Johnstone confirmed that talks were being had about a sequel in an interview with Collider. In that same interview, James Wan, writer and producer of M3GAN, mentioned that he had an idea of where a second film would go.

Blumhouse has announced a trio of upcoming horror movie release dates today, the first of which is the official date for the sequel to hit video game movie Five Nights at Freddy’s.

Two other upcoming Blumhouse sequels have also received new dates, with M3GAN 2.0 now coming to theaters on June 27, 2025, previously announced for May 16, 2025.

The Wolf Man remains one of the horror genre's most iconic movie monsters and in 2017, there were plans for him to take centre stage in Universal's ill-fated "Dark Universe."
The idea of an McU-inspired shared world featuring these creatures crumbled when The Mummy bombed, leaving the studio with no other choice than to part ways with Hollywood heavyweights like Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Russell Crowe, and Javier Bardem.
There's been some chatter about Universal attempting to revive its Dark Universe, but filmmaker Leigh Whannell's Wolf Man won't be part of them.
"As an outsider, I would say that The Mummy's Dark Universe, in my humble opinion, felt like it was reactive to what was going on with all the superhero stuff - the MCU and DC universe," producer Ken Kao tells Screen Rant (via FearHQ.com). "And we know there's been a lot of talk about what...

DC Studios is wasting no time in setting a release date for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow now that the movie has found its director.
The high-profile movie will fly into cinemas on June 26, 2026, DC and Warner Bros. announced Tuesday. It is the second film to receive a release date since James Gunn and Peter Safran were brought in to overhaul DC under the new banner DC Studios. The first was Superman, which Gunn is currently shooting for a July 2025 release date.
Flimmaker Craig Gillespie was tapped by Gunn and Safran to shepherd Supergirl, which stars Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon). She’ll play Superman’s Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman. The feature film, from a script by Ana Nogueira, is inspired by the Tom King and Bilquis Evely comic, and will depart from the earnest take on the character seen on the CW Supergirl series.

MCU has quite a slate of movies coming up, even though Marvel Studios has hit a rough patch with the last couple of projects. There have been talks about releasing fewer projects, as fans are definitely becoming tired of shows and movies of lower quality; still, if one character always managed to drag people to movies, it’s Spider-Man, by far the most profitable Marvel franchise, no matter the product you’re looking at.
Several months ago it was confirmed that ‘Spider-Man 4’ is in active development, at first rumors were circulating that Watts would return to direct it, but he ultimately moved on to other projects, just like Drew Goddard and Justin Lin.
Now the latest rumors pointed in the direction of Sam Raimi directing the upcoming MCU installment, and according to MyTimeToShineHello, the studio is also interested in James Wan.

As Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios continue their search for a director to take over from Jon Watts on Spider-Man 4, a new rumor is claiming that both studios may be in agreement on a filmmaker to take the helm of the highly-anticipated No Way Home sequel.
According to MyTimeToShineHello, James Wan is one of the directors in the mix to helm the movie. Whether this means he's actually had discussions about boarding the project is not clear.
Wan has previously directed the likes of The Conjuring, Malignant, Insidious, and both Aquaman movies for Warner Bros.
The scooper is also claiming that Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, will make her debut in the movie.
Felicity Jones played Hardy in The Amazing Spider-Man movies, but never suited-up as her costumed alter-ego. Anne Hathaway - who played Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises - was all set to debut as an earlier...

This horror flick, helmed by first-timers Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg, deals a hand that’s both terrifying and delightfully over-the-top. The film taps into the old-school charm of supernatural slashers, where a group of friends find themselves in a deadly game of cosmic consequences.

Horror movies can grow from any place. That’s one of the most exciting aspects of the genre – any idea can become scary as hell in the right hands. With flicks like Ouija: Origin of Evil and Annabelle: Creation surprising audiences, it’s not unreasonable to find great hits from even thin concepts. Tarot, the latest Sony and Screen Gems horror film, seeks to replicate this success. Unfortunately, despite great creature designs, Tarot stumbles over its own feet at every opportunity. The result is not only frustrating but an absolute slog.

A Man in Full is highly entertaining, which should be no surprise. The series is an adaptation from David E. Kelley, the brilliant mind behind Ally McBeal, Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer, and HBO’s Big Little Lies. Kelley has been in the thick of television since the days of Doogie Howser, M.D.
Kelley brings his signature brand of strong characters, a blend of genres, and sharp dialogue that you need to figure out just how deep the cut goes. The bench of actors is deep (and the likes of directors Regina King and Thomas Schlamme) with stars Jeff Daniels and Bill Camp, who turn the whip-smart and clever wordplay into instantly memorable lines that stay with the viewer long after the episode is over.
You wish A Man in Full had taken the time to develop the highly ambitious source material into something that better reflects modern societal dilemmas.
