Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios are building The Twisted Childhood Universe, which will consist of horror movies inspired by children’s stories. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 got the universe started, paving the way for Bambi: The Reckoning, Pinocchio: Unstrung, and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare (not to mention Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3), building up to the crossover movie Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble. Written and directed by Scott Chambers, who is also producing all of these Twisted Childhood movies, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare is currently in production – and Variety got their hands on an image of the film’s horror version of Peter Pan! Guillermo del Toro is renowned for the many masterpieces he has created. His artistic prowess has allowed a certain sense of faith that fans find themselves with because of the darker elements he is willing to tap into. As someone who has always found himself liking darker sketches and the scary side of things, exploring the gothic storylines isn’t something the director is afraid of.

Ever since Akira Toriyama first created the Dragon Ball series, two characters have always been the center of attention, Goku and Vegeta. The latter went from being a one-time villain to one of the most important characters of the franchise. Since the beginning, it has been their story, one that fans have wholeheartedly followed.
Goku’s Super Saiyan 4 from Dragon Ball Gt
They became two of the most well-known characters and still stand on top as compared to any other Shonen protagonist. After having followed two characters with such dedication, it would be rather peculiar if they perhaps one day just got replaced. Dragon Ball Gt almost did exactly that. The anime having minimal involvement from Toriyama’s side could have taken it in a completely different direction.

When tickets went on sale, there was a moment when 90,000 people were in the queue, waiting their turn to book seats.

There are few things more terrifying than the idea of a home invasion, especially one that ends in violence. So when reports first broke of a 2010 home invasion in the relatively sleepy Toronto suburb of Marham, Ontario that left one person dead and one in a coma, people were understandably shaken. Police, however, had reason to doubt the story told to them by the victims' daughter, 24-year-old Jennifer Pan, who was left allegedly restrained but unhurt and was able to call police. As the details of that tragic November evening began to emerge, the world learned that Pan had potentially orchestrated the entire event and hired the "home invaders" to kill her parents. In 2015, Pan was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years for the murder of her mother and the attempted murder of her father, with similar sentences for her accomplices as well.

Netflix true crime documentary What Jennifer Did, about a murder case in 2010, appears to use AI to generate images of the convicted killer at its centre.
An otherwise typical Netflix true crime documentary has sparked controversy over its alleged use of AI to generate images of its subject.
Released on the 10th April, What Jennifer Did relates the grim case of Jennifer Pan, a Canadian woman who was eventually convicted for her involvement in the deaths of her parents. Directed by Jenny Popplewell, the documentary uses interviews with the law enforcers involved in the case, news footage, and clips of Pan herself being interrogated by officers.
More perplexingly, though, the 86-minute film also appears to have used AI to fake images of a younger, happier Pan before the crimes took place. These images are used prominently in both the trailer (which you can see below) and the documentary itself: in one,...

Chicago – The Season 18 Finale of Chicago’s Asian Pop-Up Cinema (Apuc) is the Hong Kong Showcase from April 19th-21st, 2024, featuring a Lifetime Achievement Award for the legendary Rebecca Pan, Hk filmmakers/actors and current Hong Kong cinema.
In March 1972, Rebecca Pan self-financed the production of the first ever Mandarin musical, “Pai Niang Niang,” and performed it 60 times at the Princess Theatre (in Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui district). This is a piece of Hk art and cultural history, and an important milestone of Rebecca’s long career. This work used the Broadway musical model to adapt the famous myth “Legend of the White Snake,” and brought together Eastern and Western theatrical styles for the first time.

At this point, I’ve got to say that true crime documentaries have sort of become the bread and butter for Netflix. They keep churning them out, one after another, and we keep gobbling them. I’m not going into the good or bad, but the truth is, this has just become a culture. The latest one in the block is What Jennifer Did, which is about a young woman getting convicted for the murder of her mom and the attempted murder of her dad. The description itself pretty much explains why Netflix would make a documentary out of it. In this article, we’re going to get into “what” Jennifer really did and how the one-and-a-half-hour-long documentary turned out to be for us, from the perspective of the audience.
What Happens In The Documentary?
It begins with a 911 call—the kind of stuff you see in movies and shows.

A title like What Jennifer Did poses a clear question: What did Jennifer Pan do?
On November 8, 2010, Pan, a 28-year-old woman from Markham, Ontario, called 911 claiming to be the victim of a home invasion. Both on the call and in her initial interview with police, Pan claimed three men broke into her family's home, tied her to a banister upstairs, and shot her parents, killing her mother, Bich Ha Pan, and severely injuring her father, Hann Pan.

As the Supreme Court gets ready to hear oral arguments in Donald Trump’s presidential immunity case, his allies are working to tamp down any concerns the justices might have about one of the more absurd and disconcerting arguments offered by any Trump lawyer ever: that a president would have to be impeached and convicted before he could be prosecuted if he were to, hypothetically, order the assassination of a political rival.

The death of Akira Toriyama, the legendary creator of Dragon Ball has not only shocked the world but it has also left one big question among anime and manga fans. The question is: “What will be the future of Dragon Ball?” The series still has a lot to unravel, majorly for the Dragon Ball Super series.
Dragon Ball Super
The last chapter that the series released was 103 and it was created by Toriyama’s student Toyotaro, who has been working on Dragon Ball Super since the beginning. After the release of the chapter, the series went on an indefinite hiatus and no information has been released about what the future holds for Dragon Ball.
While many Dragon Ball fans believe that Dragon Ball Daima might be the last work that the franchise releases, there are still a lot of questions that the Dragon Ball Super manga needs to answer. These...

After the Disney annual shareholder meeting, Bob Iger went on a victory tour with some interviews. During the Q&a and proposal segments of the shareholder meeting, the same message came up a couple of times about Disney’s political leanings and messaging choices in entertainment. Then, on CNBC, an interview question about Disney being “woke” was brought up.
Here’s how Bob Iger responded:
..the term woke is thrown around rather liberally, no pun intended in that regard. I think a lot of people don’t even understand really what it means.”
According to Merriam-Webster, the term “woke” means to be “aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)”
Dictionary.com defines “woke” as “having or marked by an active awareness of systemic injustices and prejudices, especially those involving the treatment of ethnic, racial, or sexual minorities.”

Establishing a shared cinematic universe is hard. Take Warner Bros. and DC's attempt at matching the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for instance. Though it had some commercial successes, the DC Extended Universe ultimately disintegrated over the course of several recent box office bombs that included superheroic flop "The Flash." Then, there was Universal, with its ill-fated Dark Universe, which would have seen updated takes on classic Universal monsters inhabiting a shared timeline that would ultimately lead to some sort of monster team-up. Unfortunately, the whole thing failed almost instantly with the disappointment that was 2017's "The Mummy."
Now, with the almighty MCU even struggling to maintain its dominance amid the deluge of "content" being pumped out in its name, it seems harder than ever to construct and maintain a successful shared cinematic universe. But that won't stop horror director Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who is now threatening an entire interconnected...

In the comic books, both characters would often find themselves trapped in absurd situations. The press tour for the dystopian action film Civil War is underway. Kirsten Dunst, who plays renowned war photojournalist Lee in the movie, kicked off the promotional activities on Tuesday by attending the Civil War special screening in London dressed in a modest mint green coquette-style gown.

The world of otakus reached a standstill on March 8 when Akira Toriyama’s death was finally revealed to the public. The grief amongst fans was infectious as it spread worldwide. The creator of Dragon Ball was no more, and it took time to process the absence of a legend.
After the initial mourning passed, fans slowly began wondering about Dragon Ball Super, the manga that became orphaned. While all the other Dragon Ball manga were completed, Dragon Ball Super was the only ongoing series.
Soon afterward, it was announced that Dragon Ball Super would go on an indefinite hiatus after the release of chapter 103. The chapter was released on March 20, 2024, after its usual one-month gap, but just a week later, the manga’s illustrator revealed some befuddling behind-the-scenes details.

Illustrator of the Dragon Ball Super manga series Toyotarou took to his Twitter account to disclose a behind-the-scenes detail regarding the final panel of chapter 103 of the manga.
According to Toyotarou, his original draft of the chapter featured everyone simply turning their backs and departing. However, the last revision by the series’ creator, Akira Toriyama, introduced a significant change.
Original draft by Toyotarou
Toriyama requested that the character of Piccolo be shown offering a farewell to Pan’s kindergarten teacher.
However, Toyotarou shared that he only received the news of Toriyama’s passing after submitting the draft. Reflecting on this sequence of events, Toyotarou expressed that while he didn’t draw Piccolo with the intention of paying tribute to Toriyama, he couldn’t help but find additional layers of meaning in the final panel.
“After submitting the draft, I heard the news of the passing.
So, I didn’t draw Piccolo with that intention.

"Wicked" began its life as a playful, lore-rich 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, which imagined deep backstories and complex relationships between the characters from "The Wizard of Oz." By Maguire's imagining, the green-skinned Wicked Witch of the West was merely misunderstood and marginalized. In 2003, lyricist Stephen Schwartz and dramatist Winnie Holzman adapted Maguire's novel into a Broadway musical that almost instantly became a runaway hit. "Wicked" won three Tonys, and had since set up camp on Broadway, becoming one of the longest-running shows in the history of the Great White Way. As of this writing, "Wicked" has surpassed "Cats" in number of performances.

Did you know that there is a Child’s Play-inspired film from Mexico? If you didn’t, you can thank Vinegar Syndrome’s new label Degausser Video for making 1993’s Herencia Diabólica available for the masses to watch. Or at least for the Vs hardcore fanbase, Chucky completists and anyone else who needs something like this in their lives.
Director Alfredo Salazar, known for his writing connection to the 70s Santo film series, also serves as the writer here to bring us a film seemingly inspired from the Child’s Play franchise. While it has been recently labeled as the “Mexican Child’s Play” (there’s a special feature on the disc with that very title), the killer doll concept is where the comparison should start and end. Despite having some seeds planted by that franchise, Salazar delivers a story that blossoms into something unique.

Audiences love a Stephen King movie. The work of the best-selling horror novelist has inspired a large number of films, and even the not-so-good ones draw a crowd. King isn't just an author, he's a brand, and when you slap his name on a movie poster, people tend to notice. Most of King's major works have already been adapted to the big and small screen, but he has plenty of short stories left for filmmakers to draw on. One of King's many short stories is "The Lawnmower Man," first published in a 1975 issue of "Cavalier" before being added to his short story collection "Night Shift," released in 1978. In the 1990s, Hollywood came calling and brought "The Lawnmower Man" to the big screen. Sort of. Kind of. Maybe. Well, not really.
Directed by Brett Leonard, with a script penned by Leonard and Gimel Everett, "The Lawnmower Man" is a curious piece...

Note: This story contains spoilers from the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” Season 1 finale.
Apart from avoiding what “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” showrunner Jonathan E. Steinberg describes as “a sequence of endings” in the Disney+ show’s Season 1 finale, the most important thing to establish was the solidified friendship between Walker Scobell’s Percy, Aryan Simhadri’s Grover and Leah Sava Jeffries’ Annabeth.
The episode concluded with the trio parting ways after the harrowing quest they shared to the Underworld and back. Annabeth left to give living with her mortal dad and his family another shot, Grover embarked on his quest for Pan and Percy went back to live with his mother and attend yet another new school.

John Sauer, Donald Trump‘s lead lawyer in his federal election fraud case, declared that presidential immunity would allow a U.S. president to order Seal Team Six to assassinate a political rival without having to face criminal prosecution.
Sauer made the wild claim for executive immunity at a hearing at a federal appeals court on January 9.
When delivering his statement, he said that only if a president has been impeached and Congress has removed him from office, only then could they be criminally prosecuted.
According to Sauer, this means that Trump is immune from criminal prosecution.
“Could a president who ordered Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival, and is not impeached, would he be subject to criminal prosecution?” one judge asked Sauer.
“If he were impeached and convicted first… there is a political process that would have to occur,” Sauer replied.

Former President Donald Trump is in D.C. on Tuesday sitting in on an appeals court hearing regarding his claim of “absolute immunity” from criminal prosecution for acts he may or may not have committed as president. The arguments are already getting absurd.
Judge Florence Y. Pan, a member of the three-appellate judge panel that will rule on the question, asked Trump’s attorney, John Sauer, if — hypothetically — a president could order S.E.A.L. Team Six to assassinate their political rival and be immune from criminal prosecution.

Update: Former President Trump made remarks after Tuesday morning’s D.C. Circuit hearing on presidential immunity.
But with less than a week before the Iowa caucuses, he seized on the attention of the moment to get in digs at President Joe Biden who, if polls are correct, he likely will face in the November election.
“They’re losing in almost every demographic,” Trump said. “Numbers came out today that are mind boggling if you happen to be Joe Biden.” He countered by claiming that Joe Biden was a “threat to democracy” by claiming his prosecution was politically motivated, even though there is not evidence that the president ordered Trump’s indictment.
Fox News carried Trump’s remarks, even though it did not carry on air the live audio of the hearing itself. CNN carried a portion of Trump’s remarks before going to a fact check and commentary. MSNBC...

The first trailer for “Kingsman” and “X-Men: First Class” filmmaker Matthew Vaughn new spy film “Argylle” has arrived, and it’s hardly what anyone expected. With its exposé of digital scammers, fraud farms and gangmasters, Ao Shen’s thriller is inventive and snappily directed. A shame, then, that it morphs into a public health warning
It is a shame that either Chinese authorities had a word, or producers decided to aim for brownie points by fitting No More Bets out as an anti-fraud public-messaging spot – because Ao Shen’s thriller is otherwise a snappily directed and intriguing entrée to the industry of online deception. Update: Special Counsel Jack Smith obtained direct messages from former President Donald Trump’s Twitter account, along with draft tweets and other data.
That was among the revelations in newly unsealed court documents, showing the scope of a search warrant of the @realdonaldtrump account that Smith’s team obtained earlier this year. The Elon Musk-owned company challenged the terms of a non-disclosure order that prevented it from informing Trump of the existence of the search warrant. Twitter, now renamed X, eventually complied, but was fined $350,000 for its delay.
The unsealed documents included a transcript of proceedings in February before U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell. An attorney for Twitter, George Varghese, told her that “there are confidential communications associated with this account.” He added that Twitter “didn’t know the context of it,” but said that they were able to discern that there were DMs on the account by analyzing the account’s storage information.

After its $2 billion-plus agreement to sell Simon & Schuster fell apart last October, Paramount Global has found a new buyer for the book publishing giant at a slightly discounted all-cash price point of $1.62 billion.
Private equity firm Kkr has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Simon & Schuster, the companies said August 7. In opting to sell to a buyer not affiliated with the “Big Five” group of publishers — which includes prior suitor Penguin Random House along with HarperCollins, Hachette Book Group and Macmillan — Paramount appears to think this is the deal that can finally clear regulatory approval.

Peter Pan Goes Wrong has roped in Bradley Whitford and Daniel Dae Kim.
The pair are confirmed as special guest stars for the Center Theatre Group production, which will be mounted at the Ahmanson Theatre from Aug. 8 through Sept. 10. Whitford will take the stage Aug. 9-20 while Kim is set to appear Aug. 30-Sept. 10, with both taking on the role of Francis, “a member of the Cornley Drama Society who portrays the Narrator in Peter Pan.”
The production lands in L.A. with a West Coast premiere direct from Broadway. Co-written by Mischief company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, Peter Pan Goes Wrong is described as “a highly physical comedy packed with finely-tuned and inspired slapstick, delivered with split-second timing and ambitious daring stunts.” It follows the Cornley Drama Society as they attempt to present J.M. Barrie’s classic tale amid hi-jinx, accidents and cast disputes.

And then, when Herman pokes his head through a window and bursts through a jagged front door (if the set looks like...
