Ryan Anderson, Gypsy Rose Blanchard‘s estranged husband, is speaking out about what it’s like to watch his marriage take such a significant step in Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, while knowing what would come later. According to him, the experience is “bittersweet.” Anderson, 38, appears in the new Lifetime docuseries, the premiere of which documented the moments leading up to her release from prison for the second-degree murder of her mother, Clauddinnea “Dee Dee” Blanchard. The sweet part is that he believes he’s being fairly represented on-screen, telling TV Insider, “When the cameras came on, I didn’t say, ‘Oh, I’m gonna flip a switch and be something else. People are going to see me as who I am, very genuine, and the insides of our relationship. They filmed a lot.” In the premiere, which aired Monday, Anderson was showing escorting Blanchard from prison to visit her family in Kansas City,...

Gypsy Rose Blanchard‘s next move is the subject of an upcoming 20/20 episode, premiering Friday, Jan. 26. Anchor Deborah Roberts spoke with the 32-year-old one week after her release from prison, by which point she had already morphed into a viral star. Despite having been mostly out of the public eye while serving seven years of a 10-year prison sentence for orchestrating the murder of her allegedly abusive mother, Blanchard doesn’t mind the spotlight.

What the Chateau Marmont has been to the Sunset Strip — a hotel-slash-playground of the famous and frisky — the Georgian hotel once was to Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica. Known for its handsome turquoise blue Art Deco exterior, it’s been a local landmark since it opened in 1933 and was a favorite haunt of Hollywood stars including Charlie Chaplin, Fatty Arbuckle and Clark Gable, who, while married, is said to have met up with Carole Lombard there. Mobsters such as Bugsy Siegel and Al Capone also frequented The Georgian, which was home to a speakeasy during Prohibition.
Now, The Georgian, located at 1415 Ocean Avenue, is set to relaunch after a chic renovation that promises to restore much of its Art Deco grandeur. Exclusive: The Shrink Next Door podcast host and writer Joe Nocera is creating two Audible true-crime podcasts.
Nocera will co-write and host the as-yet-untitled non-fiction shows with podcast indie Blanchard House and Poppy Damon.
Blanchard is so far keeping the subjects fairly quiet but one is inspired by an Agatha Christie novel and the other looks to an iconic American drama.
Nocera is the host and writer of Wondery podcast The Shrink Next Door, which has gone on to become an Apple TV+ show starring Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell about the bizarre relationship between a psychiatrist to the stars and one of his patients.
“Joe is an unparalleled talent and we are so lucky to have him at Blanchard,” said Rosie Pye, Blanchard House Creative Director and Co-Founder.
Blanchard launched towards the end of last year with 1M seed investment and journalists and producers from the BBC, The Economist and Times of London.

Writer-director Tyler Perry has been living with the screenplay for “A Jazzman’s Blues” for 27 years, longer than it takes most kids to grow up and move out of the house. Inspired by a chance meeting between Perry and playwright August Wilson in 1995, You can’t keep a good melodrama down.
A glowingly lensed Jim Crow-era drama, “Jazzman’s” not unlike “Green Book” or “The Help” — absent the pandering to white audiences’ anxiety about being (to paraphrase a meme) the baddies in this situation. There is one sympathetic white character, Holocaust survivor Ira (Ryan Eggold); his German accent is as exaggerated as the rest of the cast’s Southern drawls. But while the same folks who liked “Green Book” will likely enjoy “A Jazzman’s Blues,” Perry puts Black life in rural Georgia in the 1930s and ‘40s at the center of his story — no white intermediaries required.

During the last two decades of her life, Judy Garland appeared as herself on over 40 TV programs and earned a pair of Emmy nominations as the star of her eponymous single-season variety show. 32 years after her untimely death, she was portrayed by Tammy Blanchard (24) and Judy Davis (45) in the ABC limited series “Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows,” which racked up 13 Emmy bids. Both actresses were honored for their work, with Blanchard triumphing in the Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actress category and Davis prevailing as the series lead.
20 years after her win, Blanchard remains the fourth youngest victor in the history of her category, and she currently ranks as its 10th youngest nominee after initially placing ninth. Two of the actresses who place higher on the list earned their bids prior to turning 17, with one having held the overall record for youngest acting winner for nearly four decades.
