This article contains spoilers through Succession season 4 episode 8.
One of the things that makes Succession so special is the keen way creator Jesse Armstrong satirizes real world events and people. Most of the characters we see on screen draw from something tangible, a landmark moment that can be downright hilarious, or even somewhat traumatic. The show’s third-to-last episode “America Decides” takes these mirrored resemblances to a whole different level when the Roy children and associates oversee a hectic election night at the Atn headquarters. Politics have been a common theme throughout the entirety of the show, but never before has an entire hour been dedicated to the ongoing landscape of who is going to become president like this episode does.
Much of the plot revolves around the desire of Roman (Keiran Culkin) to get Logan’s (Brian Cox) right-leaning candidate Jeryd Mencken (Justin Kirk) into the White House. This...

Set in Texas in the late 1800s, Django is a jaded cowboy in search of the daughter he thought he’d lost. In following her trail, he comes upon New Babylon, a town at the bottom of a crater, where all outcasts are welcome and where everyone is equal and free. Here, Django discovers that his 20-year-old daughter Sarah is alive and set to marry John Ellis, the founder of New Babylon. Sarah – who blames her father for the death of their family, massacred many years earlier while he was at war – wants Django to leave. But he refuses to give up and does everything in his power to get a second chance with her, becoming a valuable ally for Ellis, who...

Celebrity culture is something that society will always obsess over, and no show offered a more glamorized, bro-fueled take on Hollywood than HBO’s Entourage – loosely based on the wild life of producer Mark Wahlberg. Once fans heard Jane’s Addiction kick in while flashy neon lights whizzed by, they knew it was only a matter of time before Vincent Chase and his rag-tag crew started hollering at hotties, pounding expensive alcohol and attacking Hollywood with their special brand of drunken ambition.
Every season of Entourage is about the bond between Vince and his crew, and maybe that’s why Doug Ellin’s Entourage feature film feels lost amidst the glitz and glamour of California’s biggest and brightest stars. The same cliquey culture that HBO satirically mocked once a week ends up commandeering Vince’s latest career crisis, and Ellin finds himself wasting time on vanity cameos and egotistical...

USA Network released trailers for its upcoming new shows on Thursday, offering glimpses of its latest offerings “Rush,” “Complications” and “Satisfaction.” “Rush” stars Tom Ellis (“Miranda”) as Dr. William Rush, a “medical fixer” who privately caters to La's elite and whose service comes with a hefty price tag. Though the hard-partying doctor claims that he doesn't make judgments about his less-than-squeaky-clean clients, he's not immune to the ugliness that he encounters. In “Complications,” Jason O'Mara (“Vegas” and “Terra Nova”) plays John Ellis, a disillusioned suburban ER doctor. Ellis’ existence is transformed when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a young.

USA is having a busy 2014. In addition to renewing "White Collar" for Season 6, the cable network has picked up two new dramas, "Rush" from Jonathan Levine ("Warm Bodies") and "Complications" from "Burn Notice" creator Matt Nix.
For those keeping count, this makes six returning series plus six new series on USA this year.
Although USA has not officially addressed rumors of a "White Collar" cancellation, the show's shortened sixth season will consist of only six episodes. The potentially final episodes will pick up after the cliffhanger ending of Season 5.
The first of the new dramas is "Rush." It stars Tom Ellis as Dr. William Rush. On-call for anyone, anytime, for any reason -- as long as that person can pay a high, cash-only price -- Dr. Rush is a hard-partying guy. He only considers changing his ways when an old flame and a pesky conscience come into the picture.

Do you like "Royal Pains?" USA Network is hoping your answer is an enthusiastic "yes," because it's adding two similar titles -- at least in premise -- to its youth-infused upcoming lineup. The network also renewed "White Collar" for a final, brief season of six episodes. The first of the two new medical dramas is from writer and producer Jonathan Levine ("Warm Bodies," "50/50"). "Rush" focuses on Dr. William Rush (of course), played by Tom Ellis -- an on-call doctor to the stars living a fast-paced life in Hollywood. Anyone hoping this was a spin-off of Ron Howard's 2013 racing film of the same name is sadly out of luck, though Dr. Rush could be seeing a Chris Hemsworth type if he's stricken with, I don't know, a tough bout of handsomeness. The second series comes from a familiar face. Creator and executive producer Matt Nix spent seven season on USA's hit series "Burn Notice,...

USA Network has greatly expanded the cast of its intriguing drama pilot Complications. When Jason O’Mara’s casting was announced, my interest was piqued by his character’s story and the potential it had for a long-running series, but I’m really starting to get excited about this project now that several new characters, and the talent behind them, have been announced. The biggest new player is Beth Riesgraf (Leverage), who will be going through some serious issues opposite O’Mara.
Complications follows ER Dr. John Ellis as he goes through a massive change in his life following a gang shooting that forces him to explore just how active a doctor can be when treating his patients’ medical problems. As reported by THR, Riesgraf will be playing the role of Samantha Ellis, John’s wife. She’s an attractive, intelligent lawyer trying her best to keep her family, career...

It’s about time Jason O’Mara found himself a new series to star in, if only because I hate to see the guy struggle to get a steady paying job. I have to admit, I don’t particularly enjoy O’Mara as an actor, but that could be down to the shows he’s been a part of in the last few years. The third time’s the charm, or so they say, so let’s hope O’Mara joining USA Network is a sign of good things to come. It doesn’t hurt that the new drama pilot he’s starring in comes from Burn Notice creator Matt Nix.

Cheyenne Jackson has become a late addition to Ryan Murphy‘s HBO pilot Open, from Fox 21. Jackson will be a series regular playing a new character I hear Murphy has created for him. Malin Akerman's heading to Chatswin!
According to TVLine, the actress will play Tessa's (Jane Levy) estranged mother Alex, described as a free-spirited singer/songwriter, on Season 2 of "Suburgatory."
“I’m a huge, nerdy fan [of Malin's] and this was an extensive search for the right actress to play such a pivotal role in our show,” series creator Emily Kapnek said. “It turned out to be well worth the wait. She’s funny, gorgeous and incredibly charismatic, and I know her chemistry with Jeremy Sisto and Jane Levy is going to be off the charts. The series finale of Entourage was the very definition of bittersweet for me.
On the one hand I was sad that a show I’d watched since day one and invested eight years in was coming to an end, but on the other hand I was glad, because the end of the show also signified the end of my reviews. Constantly casting a critical eye over the show this season has left me resenting it for consistently failing to deliver anything of substance for me to analyse, and I don’t want that to be the way I remember a show that for seven years previously I’d enjoyed almost every minute of.

Throughout the classic comedies produced by Ealing Studios in the ’40s and ’50s run both a lightness of touch and a subtly unsentimental look at human character. Their classics all involve crime and greed: for money and the freedom that comes with it in The Ladykillers and The Lavender Hill Mob, for money and social standing in Kinds Hearts and Coronets. But the (amateur) criminals in the latter two are gentlemen; very English and very charming. In The Ladykillers, the gentility is merely a disguise for professional criminals. Often, the apparent civility of polite society helps their characters veil their repressed, anarchic sides.
The first of Ealing’s run of classic comedies – which also includes The Man in the White Suit and Passport to Pimlico – was Whisky Galore!, the first movie directed by Boston-born Scotsman Alexander Mackendrick. In a rare case of Wild West re-enactments turned exciting, a tourist at a Wild West show in South Dakota was somehow shot with a real bullet this weekend: John Ellis, an optometrist from South Connellsville, and two other tourists attending a cowboy show in Hill City, S.D., Friday night apparently were shot by cowboys re-enacting a gunfight. “Obviously, they were supposed to be shooting blanks. But they weren’t,” Mr. Ellis said Sunday from his hotel room in South Dakota. He was discharged from a hospital Saturday. Mustttt…resistttttt…easy Brandon Lee joke………. whoops, doing this “must resist” sentence is basically just doing the easy Brandon Lee joke… mustttt… delete……. sentence……… “At first, I didn’t know what was going on. I’ve never been shot before. Then my fingers weren’t able to move and there was all the blood and I figured it out,” he said.

With her swaggering Twitter and Facebook posts-today she called out the White House's "incompetent" response to WikiLeaks-Palin may have duped the old school press.
Sarah Palin has become the reality-show candidate for president, and she's doing it all wrong.

That, at least, is the consensus of Washington wisemen and media mavens who say that rather than boning up on policy and grafting on some gravitas, Palin has chosen to cash in on her celebrity status and exacerbate her polarizing presence.
But I'm starting to believe the detractors are wrong and that Palin is executing a shrewd strategy that has catapulted her past potential rivals, co-opting the same media establishment she loves to denigrate. Even her recent hints about running for president-if indeed she's willing to subject herself to constant journalistic scrutiny-are designed to stoke interest in her now that midterm madness has faded.
