Agatha first appeared in the Disney+ series ‘WandaVision’ as a nosy neighbor who turns out to be a powerful witch wanting to take Wanda’s powers. At the show’s end, she’s defeated and left powerless, stuck in her neighbor persona, setting up her story for the new series. Agatha has a rich history in the comics as a powerful magic user, which ties her to Wanda.
The character became popular in her live-action form, leading Marvel Studios to start working on a dark comedy spin-off centered on Kathryn Hahn’s portrayal in October 2021.
Hahn’s role was part of a larger deal with Marvel Studios, leading to the series being announced as ‘Agatha: House of Harkness’ during Disney+ Day in November 2021. The title changed to ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ in July 2022, and then to ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ in September 2023. According to the official Disney+ site, the show will...

Agatha debuted in the Disney+ series ‘WandaWision,’ as the nosy neighbour-turned-powerful witch who tried to steal Wanda’s powers. By the end of the show, Agatha is defeated and trapped in her noisy neighbor persona, left powerless, which will obviously translate to the first episode of the show. The two characters share a connection from the comics, with Agatha being one of the most powerful magic users in the Marvel Comics Universe.
The fans took a liking to the live-action version of the character, and by October 2021, Marvel Studios began developing a dark comedy spin-off from ‘WandaVision’ focused on Kathryn Hahn’s character.

Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness had a scene that was removed from WandaVision's season finale on Disney+.
Giving fans a taste of her magical abilities in the McU's first Phase 4 project, Agatha and Wanda Maximoff finally went toe-to-toe with one another in WandaVision's final episode before her tragic defeat.
But after Elizabeth Olsen's powerful leading character got the best of Hahn's antagonist, Agatha was confined to Wanda's Hex-influenced Westview for the foreseeable future - complete with the '90s-set sitcom reality.

The WandaVision spin-off / follow-up Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (which was formerly known as Agatha: House of Harkness and then Agatha: Coven of Chaos) isn’t expected to start streaming on the Disney+ service until the early fall of 2024 – possibly on September 19, 2024 – but a SPOILERy first episode plot synopsis has already surfaced online!
As shared by the folks at ComicBookMovie.com, the first episode of Agatha: Darkhold Diaries has the following synopsis, which was apparently found in a U.S. Copyright Office listing: In the first episode, we see Agatha finally break out of a spell she has been trapped in. She can’t wait to go back to her old murderous ways only to find that she is powerless. The only way forward for her is to embark on a perilous quest to get her powers back with the help of an unlikely friend or two.

A Deadly Invitation is a Mexican mystery thriller movie directed by José Manuel Cravioto. It stars Maribel Verdú, Stephanie Cayo, and Manolo Cardona. The film is based on the novel “Invitación a un Asesinato” by best-selling author Carmen Posadas.
The film follows Agatha, a true crime podcast host who is invited to a gathering at her sister’s, Olivia’s, luxurious yacht for a weekend getaway together with a group of her closest friends. The reason for the gathering is unknown to all. As the guests arrive on the yacht, tensions begin to rise culminating in… a murder.

If you are into Agatha Christie, and however many film and series adaptations of her novels have been produced over time, I recommend this movie.

This article contains MCU spoilers.
It’s over! It’s officially over. Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally in our rear view mirror, and what did we learn? We learned that Marvel Studios wasn’t going to stop taking risks after capping off Phase 3 with the box office juggernaut of Avengers: Endgame. In fact, they were going to take more risks than ever. Sometimes, those risks paid off. Other times, they did not. But during a transformative time for the MCU, Phase 4 was, for the most part, determined not to offer the one thing that would have made older fans happy but would have perhaps discouraged newer, younger fans from emerging: more of the same.
As such, the MCU got a whole slate of brand-new and diverse characters. Moon Knight, the Eternals, Ms. Marvel, Shang-Chi, She-Hulk, Kate Bishop, Yelena Belova, John Walker, Ironheart, Agatha, Red Guardian, Clea, Echo,...

The "showbiz satire" movie is almost as old as the cinematic medium itself. From "Sullivan's Travels" to "The Player" and most recently "Babylon," a look at the darker, goofier, unglamorous, seedier side of moviemaking has become a perennial for Hollywood in more ways than one.
Yet most of these films utilize an exaggerated effect to make their commentary on show business that much more biting, whether it's surrealism (as in Federico Fellini's "8 1/2"), a musical (like "Singin' in the Rain"), or horror (such as "Wes Craven's New Nightmare"). It's rare for such showbiz films to not be satirized in some fashion, yet David Cronenberg's "Maps to the Stars" is just such a movie.
Of course, that depends on who you ask. Most people would see the uncomfortable and darkly hilarious "Maps to the Stars" as unequivocal satire, seeing as how it brings together an ensemble of bizarrely...

Agatha: Coven of Chaos has recruited a familiar face: Debra Jo Rupp, who appeared in multiple episodes of WandaVision, has joined the Disney+/Marvel spinoff series, our sister site Deadline reports.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos will see Kathryn Hahn reprising her WandaVision role as nosy neighbor-turned-evil witch Agatha Harkness. (The role earned Hahn an Emmy nomination last year.) In WandaVision‘s season finale, Agatha lost the battle to absorb Wanda’s magic, and Wanda indefinitely trapped Agatha in her nosy neighbor “Agnes” persona.

Marvel obviously struck gold with the revelation that it was Agatha all along, meddling in Wanda Maximoff's idyllic sitcom-inspired suburbia. Not only did that "WandaVision" plot twist gift the masses with an incredibly catchy tune (all it takes to get this song playing on an endless loop in my head is simply remembering that it exists), but we're also getting an entire Disney+ series out of it, with Kathryn Hahn reprising her role as the witch, presumably with a brand new set of magic users to thwart. Prepare for another deep-dive into the dark magic of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, courtesy of "Agatha: Coven of Chaos," the upcoming series that likely sees Agatha getting back in touch with her witchy origins. But that might be easier said than done.

Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso) makes a big impression as she struts — looking bad to the bone — into a ceremony where Lady Lesso (Charlize Theron) and Professor Dovey (Kerry Washington) are unlocking the students’ powers in the sneak peek clip shared Saturday for Netflix’s “The School for Good and Evil.” (You can watch it here.)
“Your finger glow helps you become aware of the power inside you,” Washington’s Dovey says to a student as she and Theron’s Lesso continue to prick pointer fingers.
“When your finger glows, it means you’ve begun to tap into emotions powerful enough to cast a spell,” Theron’s Lesso says.

At first, "Netflix & Chills" was very much a try-hard, "How do you do, fellow kids?" style of marketing line intended to promote Netflix's exclusive films and TV shows arriving in the annual lead-up to Halloween, be they horror-related or not. Since then, however, spooky season has become serious business for the streaming service.
Case in point: Halloween 2022 will see brand-new projects from the likes of horror extraordinaires Jordan Peele, Henry Selick, and Guillermo del Toro make their way onto Netflix in October, along with the latest spine-chilling series from "The Haunting" and "Midnight Mass" creator Mike Flanagan. That's on top of a slathering of docuseries covering (allegedly) paranormal activity, baffling unsolve mysteries, and supposedly haunted locations in the real-world. Really, whatever your preferred flavor of spookiness, Netflix is hoping to quench your thirst.
Should you find yourself in more of a throwback mood, Netflix will also make the James Gunn...

We’re still knee deep in the current box office slump, with five weeks left until Halloween Ends carries us out of it. However, after a better than expected 42.3 million overall box office last weekend (a 24 drop) and solid buzz on this weekend’s The Woman King and next weekend’s Don't Worry Darling, it looks like we may be able to weather the storm without hitting a new low overall weekend low for the year (January 28-30’s 34.9 million gross is the number to beat). This would only be a minor consolation, and we may not see a single weekend even get over 60 million until October 14-16, but having a few doubles and triples will tide theaters over until the upcoming season of homeruns and grand slams.
The biggest release this weekend is Sony/TriStar’s The Woman King, which should open in the mid teens from 3,700 theaters (including...

Earlier this year, Netflix released a teaser for the upcoming film "The School for Good and Evil" during their Geeked Week event. Now we have the full trailer for director Paul Feig's adaptation of the popular young adult fantasy novels from author Soman Chainani. The film is based on the first book in the series. It's the story of two teenage girls living in a fairytale world, figuring out their paths in life. Of course, when you're working to be a hero or a villain, you will need some training.
There is a school in this world split into two halves. One teaches you how to work for the side of the good, and the other one instructs you on how to be evil. The two young women are Sophie, who appears to be a candidate for the light side of things, and Agatha, who seems destined for the darker classes.

A mysterious figure terrorises a camp full of teenagers in She Came From the Woods, a supernatural horror from director Erik Bloomquist, who also co-wrote the script with his brother, Carson Bloomquist. Creepy, suspenseful and suitably gory, it’s a genre-savvy throwback to the summer camp slasher genre.
Set in 1987 (so no pesky mobile phones), the film takes place during the last night of the summer holiday at Camp Briarbrook, run by kindly Gilbert McAlister (William Sadler) his adult daughter Heather (Cara Buono) and her two teenage sons, irresponsible Peter (Spencer List) and sensible Shawn (Tyler Elliot Burke).
When Peter persuades the other teen volunteers to perform a ghost story ritual (a ridiculously simple one – prick your finger and shout “Agatha!”), he...
