- His radio performances of operas performed in concert, all eventually made available on LP and CD, include Ludwig van Beethoven's "Fidelio", Giacomo Puccini's "La Boheme" (the only instance of a recorded Puccini opera conducted by its *original* conductor 50 years after its world premiere) and Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata", "Otello", "Aida", "Falstaff", and "Un Ballo en Maschera". The performances of "La Boheme" as well as the Verdi operas are considered among the finest ever done.
- He conducted the world premiere of Samuel Barber's famous "Adagio for Strings" in 1939.
- CD: "Toscanini, Volume 2: Maestro Furioso". There are many other Toscanini CD's available, including his album of all nine of Beethoven's symphonies and all four of Brahms's.
- (1935) He discovered Wagner's lost unpublished piece, "Parazzi Theme" from 1859.
