- In 1963, he and Bill Hickman were awarded a commendation for outstanding service to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) for their involvement in the apprehension of a bank robber who had shot a police officer. On June 19, 1963, they pursued and rammed the car of the bandit, Carl Follette, and delayed him until the LAPD arrived.
- In addition to being a stuntman, he was a TV writer and actor.
- Alex Sharp was the stunt double for James Arness in "The Mission" which was one the earlier color episodes of "Gunsmoke." If you look closely, you can catch a glimpse of his face in the Mexican bar fight scene at about 00:12:00.
