But I do like the characters enormously and the world.” Alistair Heap Still, Merchant makes a...

Hollywood actors often have their careers reduced to one major role. Having said that, isn’t it compelling how an iconic character like Batman can bring an actor everlasting fame, but also conceal the breadth of their versatility? Val Kilmer, known widely for donning the dark mask of the Caped Crusader, embodies this paradox with remarkable grace.
Prior to making his breakthrough in the 1980s with roles in comedies such as Real Genius and Top Secret, Val Kilmer began his acting career on stage. The acclaimed sequel to Top Gun, in which he reprised the role of Iceman, has brought him back into the spotlight.
Val Kilmer as Batman in Batman Forever | Warner Bros Pictures
Despite his early breakthrough, Kilmer charted a different course, circling the universe of TV—save for a voice role as Kitt in the Knight Rider reboot and brief stints on shows like Ghost Girls and The Spoils of Babylon.

Where does the time go? It feels like only yesterday that Taskmaster’s series 17 contestants first appeared in the studio, shakily establishing their pecking order, testing out their rudeness vs sucking-up strategy when it came to Lord Greg Davies, and shifting nervously in their seats as they wondered which of their psychological breakdowns had made the edit. Now, they’ve all grown-up and left home, leaving five empty chairs waiting for the next set of bums to warm them.
Those bums, and the comedians attached to them, have now been officially announced. Competing for the head of the Taskmaster in series 18 will be: Andy Zaltzman, Babatunde Aléshé, Emma Sidi, Jack Dee and Rosie Jones.

Created by Stephen Merchant and Elgin James, the first two seasons of The Outlaws delivered a perfect balance of humor and drama, and the performances were top-notch. And while season 3 is not the strongest of the lot, the characters are entertaining enough to spend a few hours with. A group of misfits from different walks of life were brought together by community service. The characters had engaged in minor offenses, and as a form of compensation, they were assigned community service. But instead of their lives getting any easier, they found themselves drawn into bigger trouble. Sooner than expected, these small-time offenders were dealing with notorious drug lords and the threat to their lives escalated. While the characters were starkly different from each other, they were united by one common factor—they were all in one way or another at the lowest points of their lives. They could relate to each other’s struggles,...

Prime Video‘s ragtag team of community paybackers, known affectionately as The Outlaws, gear up for an all-new adventure in Bristol as their Season 2 plan to frame the ruthless drug lord known as The Dean (Claes Bang) backfires. “We’re picking up about six months after the previous series,” creator, director, writer, and star Stephen Merchant tells TV Insider about the action. “This group of relatively ordinary people have [sent The Dean] to court and he’s awaiting trial, but there’s now a threat that he might get off by corrupting the case.” When shoplifter Rani (Rhianne Barreto) shows up with a dead body in the back of her car though, moving on with their lives is next to impossible. “They’re dragged back into the thriller story that they thought they’d escaped,” Merchant says of the community payback group. Comedy producers have been told to locate their “funny bones” when pitching shows to the BBC by the most powerful person in British comedy commissioning.
Jon Petrie, who runs BBC comedy, set out his “firmly sitcoms first” stall in a speech this morning in Glasgow.
He urged producers to “send us less shows that are ‘an exploration’ of something and more that know where their funny bones are,” citing the likes of Ghosts, Motherland and Two Doors Down as examples of the “comedy first proposals” he is after.
Petrie has not held back on his desire for sitcoms since taking on the job a couple of years ago and announced a raft of new and returning shows this morning at the BBC Comedy Festival.
But he said his team is “not getting pitched enough of the comedy we need to keep people happy” and is instead over-stocked with dramedies, which...

Every time a TV show comes to an end, it's a good time to look back at the story and see what could have been done better. In many cases, the finale comes a few seasons too late, as the writers try to salvage the story and keep viewers interested, but fall flat at every other attempt.
There aren't many shows that have the guts to make a decision and leave in their prime, but every time it happens, viewers should make sure to watch it as a reminder of how real talent cares about not having their work messed with. From what it looks like, The Outlaws is now going to join this list.

A new version of The Office is coming to Peacock soon, and it's going straight into the heart of a dying medium: print journalism. We can feel the good vibes already!
Greg Daniels, who was behind the U.S. adaptation of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's UK original, is teaming up with Nathan for You co-creator Michael Koman on the new comedy, which is set in the same universe as NBC's The Office. Despite the implication, the show, which will stream on Peacock, won't be set in Pennsylvania once more. Apparently, by "same universe," what Daniels and Koman mean is the work lives of the documentary crew who spent a decade filming a bunch of workers in a regional office of a midsize paper company (and crushing on at least one of them). ...

It's officially official: We are returning to the "Office" universe. Yes, we say universe because NBC's beloved sitcom isn't being revived or rebooted. Rather, the powers that be have opted to craft a spin-off of sorts set in the same world as the American version of "The Office," albeit centered on a new cast of characters in a new location. Per a press release, the series is set to begin filming in July for an eventual release on the streaming service Peacock, and the first plot details have been revealed.
The currently untitled "Office" spin-off hails from Greg Daniels, who officially came on board to develop the project last year. He also adapted the original British "Office" series for American television. Daniels is working alongside "Nathan for You" co-creator Michael Koman. The show has been ordered to series at Peacock and is being described as "a new mockumentary series...

A new mockumentary series set in the world of “The Office” is not only being developed — but was just picked up by Peacock. “The Office” creator Greg Daniels and “Nathan for You” co-creator Michael Koman’s untitled project has been ordered to series, produced by Utv.
The untitled Daniels/Koman project will star Irish film star Domhnall Gleeson and “The White Lotus” Season 2 breakout Sabrina Impacciatore, as well as an ensemble cast that has yet to be announced. American TV showrunners often take the ideas which originated across the ocean and make their own shows, adapting the scripts for the country’s audience. While some of such attempts turn out to be disappointing, there are a number of series which clearly surpassed the quality of the original British ones, with 5 of them being enlisted here.
1. The Office (2005-2013)
Presumably, this show comes first when we speak about these remakes. Originally created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the series’ concept eventually worked out with Steve Carell’s starring version.
There is no doubt that it became cultish for the audience all around the world, making its characters and catchphrases the most recognizable ones when we’re talking about sitcoms of such a kind.
2. Shameless (2011 - 2021)
The dramedy series, following the Gallaghers' unstable household ruled by a troublesome single father, was an adaptation of the British show of the same name too.

Rainn Wilson is widely known for his role as Dwight Schrute on the NBC sitcom The Office. He is one of the popular characters in the American sitcom, particularly due to his rivalry with his co-worker, Jim Halpert (played by John Krasinski).

The new iteration of “The Office” currently in development has started to flesh out its cast.
Variety has confirmed with sources that Sabrina Impacciatore and Domhnall Gleeson are attached to the project, which remain in development at Universal Television. They would occupy two roles in what would be an ensemble cast, like the original versions of the show.
Reps for Utv declined to comment.
Greg Daniels and Michael Koman are co-creating the new series. It has previously been reported that it is not a reboot of “The Office” but is set in the same universe, meaning it would likely be set in a different office setting with all new characters.
