Young Sheldon boss Steve Holland would like to use this opportunity to address the fate of Paige Swanson (and debunk all of your tragic theories about her absence in The Big Bang Theory).
Mckenna Grace’s character, a fellow child prodigy, was introduced early in Season 2 of the prequel series and served as Sheldon’s chief rival at East Texas Tech. Aside from Tam, who crossed over to Big Bang, she was the closest thing that Sheldon had to a friend, and remained an acquaintance for many years, eventually befriending Sheldon’s twin sister Missy.

Alejandro González Iñárritu's Oscar-winning film "Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)" was a pretty ballsy move to make in 2014. The film stars Michael Keaton as actor Riggan Thompson, a once-massive Hollywood action star who has aged out of action roles. Notably, Riggan starred in three crowd-pleasing superhero movies about Birdman, a Batman-like vigilante. Keaton, of course, played Batman in 1989, 1991, and 2023.
Riggan is set to star in a high-profile Broadway production, hoping to prove to himself and the world that he is a pliable and capable actor, not merely a nostalgia-laced superhero figure. There is a lot of dialogue in "Birdman" about how superhero movies are the antithesis of art and that superhero actors are aggressively robbed of their thespian instincts. Good actors, Riggan complains, are ripped from meaningful projects and thrust into commercial FX bonanzas where they are expected to do little beyond pose and wear silly costumes.

The Big Bang Theory owes its immense popularity not only to the talented cast and the compelling storyline revolving around four geek friends that have to navigate through life using their gifted minds, but also to the impressive list of guest stars that ever appeared in there.
And though Sheldon Cooper, portrayed by Jim Parsons, could’ve seemed to be extremely calm while sharing the screen with the biggest stars, the actor himself was pretty much affected by these situations.
Throughout the whole run of 12 seasons, the show’s main cast got to work with the pop culture and science’s legendary figures like Stan Lee, Stephen Hawking, Charlie Sheen, Bob Newhart and many others — but one movie star in particular made Jim Parsons forget how to breathe normally for some time.
As he revealed, sharing the screen with Star Wars’ legendary actor James Earl Jones got him a weird feeling.

Pauly Shore once again addressed his in-development Richard Simmons biopic that has become a hot topic.
“I’m also gonna be starring in the Richard Simmons biopic…whether he likes it or not, Richard,” Shore said at his Netflix Is a Joke show at the Comedy Store Friday night in Los Angeles. “Just another fucking bump in my fucking road.”
Shore’s hour-and-a-half comedy set recounted his life story with a particular focus on growing up in Los Angeles with parents Sammy Shore and Mitzi Shore who co-founded the Comedy Store.
While the bulk of the set detailed his childhood through to the time he spent on MTV and even at the Playboy Mansion, at the very end he jumped to the present to talk about his current life stage and achievements and to briefly address the ongoing biopic situation.
The comment comes after a string of social media back-and-forths...

I am not a scientist. I am an artist. I cannot begin to spout scientific data on what we will become once artificial intelligence outsmarts us. I can read the predictions of how our workforce will be replaced by AI. I can read the warnings from Stephen Hawking that go back as far as 1996 that it will not be climate change that will be our undoing but more likely, AI.
But what I can say with certainty is that what we all share as humans all over the planet and what connects us is the human experience made up of emotions that nothing programmed can ever experience. And it is what has documented our existence since the beginning of time in our hieroglyphics, and our paintings and our storytelling, and in our songs.

Pauly Shore said he “was up all night crying” due to Richard Simmons continuing to publicly distance himself from a biopic that would star Shore as the fitness guru.
“I just read that a man that I don’t know is writing my bio pic starring Pauly Shore,” Simmons wrote on his verified Facebook page earlier this week. “I do not approve this movie. I am in talks with major studios to create my own bio pic with some help. Wait for this movie.”
Simmons previously said that he was not involved with the biopic and didn’t give Shore “permission” for it, right after it was announced that a feature film about the fitness icon, backed by the Wolper Organization, was in development.
“You guys, I was up all night crying regarding Richard Simmons’ tweet,” Shore wrote on his Instagram Thursday. “Richard, how do you not approve of this movie?...

Among the new productions on Broadway this spring is a revival of the classic musical “Cabaret,” starring Eddie Redmayne. In 2014 he starred as Stephen Hawking in director James Marsh‘s biopic “The Theory of Everything.” His performance won him an Oscar for Best Actor (making him the eighth youngest winner in that category at age 33), overcoming stiff competition from Michael Keaton, the star of the Best Picture winner of that year, “Birdman.” How did Redmayne pull through? Here are five reasons.
1. The industry felt he came into his own
Prior to “The Theory of Everything,” Redmayne was a rising star. In 2010 he won a Tony for his Broadway debut starring opposite Alfred Molina in John Logan‘s play “Red.” He went on to get more prominent film roles where critics, audiences and the industry started to take notice of him. Among them were Simon Curtis‘s 2011 Oscar-nominated biopic “My Week with Marilyn...

I never liked Tom Ripley but I keep meeting him.
I’ve “met” Ripley in five films, and he’s now the protagonist of a somber eight-part Netflix series. So filmmakers clearly find his character intriguing. Even though he has no character.
That, in itself, reminds me that Hollywood is suffering the same problem as Washington: an absence of vital young protagonists. Voters are confronted by an election that’s really a rerun, likely opened by a debate no one wants to witness.
In filmmaking, the worldwide success of Oppenheimer told us that a complex story becomes more interesting if it’s also about someone interesting. Yet movies with vibrant young protagonists seem to be losing their moment.
Dan Lin, the new chief of film at Netflix, confides a desire — since rebutted by Ted Sarandos on Thursday’s Q1 earnings call — to steer away from mindless mega-budget action films like...

The beloved soap opera, introduced in 1977, has captured the hearts of fans worldwide. With a stellar ensemble cast featuring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and James Earl Jones, the franchise has consistently delighted audiences with its rich content. Surprisingly, despite its global success, the two cast members didn’t cross paths until their joint appearance on the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory.

If you are going to create a game called Epstein Island, you have two options; both of which require equally dubious morals. Either you try to remain earnest, modelling the location after the real island of Little Saint James, re-treading the horrifying real-world accounts of what took place there, and attempting to educate the general public on why something as despicably heinous as this can never be allowed to happen again on such a large scale.
Or, you lean into the parody angle. Make the whole thing one big meme, with Stephen Hawking chasing midgets around on a rocket-powered wheelchair, and a mini game where the player has to avoid Prince Andrew’s over-sized drops of sweat. This would of course be exceedingly disrespectful to the real victims of Epstein and his cohorts, but it would at least require an iota of effort to create.
Needless to say, Epstein Island does neither of these things.

In terms of how many biographical performances they each include, the 2023 and 2024 acting Oscar lineups are staggeringly different. Whereas only two portrayals of real people (Austin Butler as Elvis Presley in “Elvis” and Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe in “Blonde”) were recognized last year, a whopping 10 are presently nominated, constituting the highest such rate (50%) in five years. What’s more, this is only the third time in almost a century of Oscars history that real-life characters aren’t outnumbered by fictional ones.
This year’s near-record biographical performance rate ranks only behind the 60% ones of 2016 and 2019. Unsurprisingly, three of the four eventual winners in both previous cases belonged to those majorities. This includes leads Leonardo DiCaprio as Hugh Glass, Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, and Olivia Colman as Queen Anne as well as supporting players Mark Rylance as Rudolf Abel, Alicia Vikander as Gerda Wegener, and Mahershala Ali as Don Shirley.

Former President Bill Clinton allegedly warned Vanity Fair not to publish articles regarding the sex-trafficking allegations against “his good friend” Jeffrey Epstein. Clinton reportedly stormed into their newsroom and began to “threaten” them.
According to the newly unsealed court documents, Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein accuser, mentioned Clinton in a 2011 email exchange with Sharon Churcher, a journalist in the Daily Mail.
The emails exchanged were advice given to Giuffre on whether she should do an interview and sell a photo to the publication. Churcher even offered to help her get a book deal back then.

The entertainment world has been rocked with the revelations from the sealed court documents related to prolific sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The document includes a bunch of names from Hollywood. Michael Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio are some of the big names in the document along with politicians Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, reports Mirror.co.uk.
Stars such as Cate Blanchett, Cameron Diaz, Bruce Willis and Kevin Spacey have also been name-dropped. However, simply their mention doesn’t not imply that they have been party to any wrongdoing. The claims and association of the names to the crimes are yet to be proven in the court of law.
As per Mirror.co.uk, the judge said a handful of names should remain blacked out in the documents because they would identify people who were sexually abused. Before the unsealing, the names were listed in court papers as variants of J Doe.

Over the course of his 45-year career, documentary filmmaker Errol Morris has interviewed an eclectic array of subjects ranging from physicist Stephen Hawking and execution technician Fred A. Leuchter to controversial figures like Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and political strategist Steve Bannon. Yet when he sat down with novelist David Cornwell (aka John le Carré) for his latest film “The Pigeon Tunnel,” Morris realized he had finally met his match. “He was perhaps the most articulate person I have ever interviewed,” Morris told IndieWire’s Filmmaker Toolkit podcast. “I got the sense that he was really prepared — probably better prepared than I was.”
The director sat down to interview Cornwell, and before he knew what was happening, his interview subject was interviewing him. “He was interrogating me! The question [he asked]: ‘Who are you?’ It’s so strange and disarming. How do you answer such a question?” In trying to find out who Cornwell was,...

Eddie Redmayne will star in the Cabaret revival coming to Broadway this spring.
He reprises his role as the Emcee from the production in London, opposite newcomer Gayle Rankin (Glow), who will be playing Sally Bowles. The production, directed by Rebecca Frecknall, starts previews at the August Wilson Theatre on April 1, 2024, with an official press opening night on April 21.
Like in London, the creative team plans to transform the August Wilson Theatre for the production, featuring an in-the-round auditorium and “sinfully dreamlike spaces,” where attendees can view entertainment and buy drinks and food before the show. Each attendee will have a timed entry to the theater and the pre show. Tom Scutt is the club, scenic, and costume designer and Julia Cheng is the choreographer.

The multiverse subgenre of cinema is growing. There are a handful of new films every year exploring this uncharted new territory, experimenting with big ideas and mind-bending storytelling. Not every story will work, though, not every equation will produce a correct answer. Even though this film has quite a few issues with it, I still can't stop thinking about it – weeks after first seeing it at the 2023 Venice Film Festival. The Theory of Everything (originally Die Theorie von Allem in German) is a German-Austrian-Swiss co-production from a German filmmaker named Timm Kröger (also the director of The Council of Birds). Not to be confused with the Oscar winning biopic (from 2014) about Stephen Hawking also called The Theory of Everything, this German The Theory of Everything is a unique multiverse tale. It's one of the first clever attempts at mixing film noir with multiverse theory, integrating quantum mechanics thinking into a shady characters mystery plot.

Multiverse of Sadness: Kroger Captivates with Cryptic Cold War Sci-Fi Exploit
Although it will invariably be confused with the 2014 Stephen Hawking biopic, Timm Kröger’s fascinating sophomore feature The Theory of Everything (Die Theorie Von Allem) blends modern cinema’s excessive obsession with the notion of the multiverse into a gloomy, sci-fi neo noir. It’s also a fatalistic, overcast love story, reminiscent of everything from Solaris (1972) to Alain Resnais’ Je t’aime Je T’aime (1968), utilizing contemporary fascinations folded into vintage aesthetics. In the wake of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer (2023), Kröger’s film arrives as if from some fortuitous concentric time loop to revel in the ripple effects of the atomic bomb.…...

Dance First, a biographical drama from The Theory of Everything director James Marsh about the life of Irish Nobel prize-winning playwright Samuel Beckett, will close the 71st San Sebastian Festival.
The feature, which stars Gabriel Byrne as Beckett alongside Sandrine Bonnaire as his longtime partner, and eventual wife, Suzanne Deschevaux-Dumesnil, will close the 2023 San Sebastian festival on Sept. 30. Dance First will screen out of competition at San Sebastian.
Dance First follows Beckett’s life from his time as a fighter for the French Resistance during the Second World War, through his friendship with fellow Irish literary luminary James Joyce, his rise with such groundbreaking plays as Waiting for Godot, Endgame and Happy Days — which established the Theater of the Absurd movement — to his receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969, and his later life as a recluse. “Dance First,” a portrait of Irish writer Samuel Beckett starring Gabriel Byrne and directed by Oscar winner James Marsh, will close this year’s San Sebastian Film Festival, playing out of competition.
The closing film screening, on Sept. 30, will mark the film’s world premiere.
Byrne, a memorable lead in “The Usual Suspects” and “Miller’s Crossing” who also won a Golden Globe for his performance in “In Treatment,” plays Beckett. The Nobel Prize-winning playwright was a Parisian bon vivant and WWII resistance fighter who became a recluse, living the last years of his life in a single room in a nursing home, ashamed of past actions and convinced that for much of his life he had been a failure.
U.K. director Marsh won an Academy Award for best documentary feature in 2009 with “Man on Wire.” He also directed the Stephen Hawking biopic “The Theory of Everything,” which earned five nominations at the 2015 Oscars,...

Cillian Murphy delivers a powerhouse performance in Christopher Nolan‘s acclaimed biopic “Oppenheimer.” As J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, Murphy cuts a striking figure in his suit and hat with his piercing blue eyes staring out through IMAX screens and into the souls of cinema-goers.
The movie is Nolan’s first-ever biopic and explores how Oppenheimer went from a troubled, homesick student at Cambridge University to the leader of the Manhattan Project and the creator of the atomic bomb, which was later dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Murphy’s Oppenheimer is a supremely intelligent man with political leanings and a brain that could consume anyone in the room with him. But he’s also a troubled man, burdened by the weight of what he is trying to achieve and aware that his creation will change the world — and not necessarily for the better. It’s a...

Will Butler + Sister Squares have shared “Arrow of Time,” a new song from their upcoming self-titled album. Listen to the single below.
“Arrow of Time” begins as something of a dance track, as a slinky bass line propels Butler’s “waiting for the kill.” In the chorus, however, the song picks up, as the singer frantically chants, “I’ve been patient, I’ve been very still/ Watching as I’m trying not to feel.” Butler + Sister Squares worked the song out on tour last summer, and according to the artist, it became a fan favorite. “People really liked this when we played it; a few people at the merch table were like, ‘Which record is this song on?’”
If the single’s music video — recorded, according to text in the clip, before “the shitshow that was 2025” — confuses you, Butler explained the meaning of “Arrow of Time” in a statement. The...

This looks unique. German distributor Neue Visionen Filmverleih has revealed a first look trailer for the indie film Die Theorie von Allem, which translates directly to The Theory of Everything. Yep, it's the same title as the Stephen Hawking film from 2014, and it's also about theoretical physics and scientists. But with a more mysterious, Hitchcockian twist. Set in 1962. A physics congress in the Alps. An Iranian guest. A mysterious pianist. A bizarre cloud in the sky and a booming mystery under the mountain. It's "a quantum mechanical thriller in black & white." The distributor also adds more buzz: with "Timm Kröger, everything is there that makes for great cinematic art in the best Hitchcock tradition. Cast with a fantastic ensemble and interspersed with a phenomenal soundtrack, The Theory of Everything is a brilliant film noir about the contingency of our world, in which much is possible and hardly anything is necessary.

Potential "Oppenheimer" spoilers follow.
In most auteur filmmakers' bodies of work, there exists a movie that functions as the summation of their particular themes and interests, a film that essentially "unlocks" all of their other movies, throwing them into a new light. Sometimes these movies arrive late in a director's career, acting as more of a true culmination, such as Steven Spielberg's revelatory "The Fabelmans" from just last year. Other times, these films act as statements of intent right out of the gate, as I'd argue Steven Soderbergh's first feature "Sex, Lies, and Videotape" does.
It's not unusual, however, for such a movie to arrive somewhere near the middle or back half of a director's career; after all, Martin Scorsese didn't make "The Last Temptation of Christ" until he was 46 years old and 11 films deep. In other words, these kinds of films arrive when such an artist feels...

On the upcoming June 13 episode of “America’s Got Talent,” a nonverbal comedian named Ahren Belisle will have the audience and judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara laughing out loud with his unique style of humor. The 28-year-old engineer with cerebral palsy has only been performing comedy for a year, ever since he tried out in Portugal and “made all the comics laugh.” He uses a text-to-speech app in his routine, and his service dog is “trained to go for the vocal cords” if anyone heckles him. Watch the “AGT” sneak peek video above.
Ahren begins the act by addressing the “elephant in the room”: who ordered Stephen Hawking off of the internet? “He might be smarter than me, but I would beat him in a race … unless the race is downhill, then I’m screwed,” he jokes about the late wheelchair-bound theoretical physicist.

John Lennon had a little bit of experience with acting. Not only did he star in both Beatles movies, A Hard Day’s Night and Help!, but he also had a role in 1967’s How I Won the War. One classic movie from the 1980s had a genuine interest in John Lennon, but unfortunately, the former Beatle was killed before the film went into production.

Nearly every mainstream animated feature (and just about every comic-book movie too) sets a tone and visual design that the audience plugs into; the movie, bold and shiny and clever as it may be, won’t deviate much from that. But the images in “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” have an intoxicating unpredictability. The film makes you feel like you’re dropping through the floors of a modern art museum on acid. Yet there’s a thrilling moment-to-moment logic to it all. The madly eclectic images express something — an eyeball-tickling explosion of quantum physics, or a subliminal nod to some comic-book style from decades ago that’s so retro it’s new, not to mention bedazzling. This feels like it could have been the first movie designed to earn a thumbs up from Andy Warhol and Stephen Hawking.
Or maybe the second, since “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” was like that too.

The process of making a Wes Anderson movie involves an immersive environment, from sets to music to big dinners at the end of the day — and the Covid-19 pandemic helped, said Anderson and his cast members at a Cannes Film Festival press conference on Wednesday, the day after the premiere of “Asteroid City,” his quirky sci-fi movie set in the 1950s.
“The world is there, and you’re in it,” said Scarlett Johansson of the film, which tells of alien contact in a colorful Southwestern U.S. desert town through the framing device of a black-and-white TV documentary from the 1950s. “They very much create the whole environment — it’s a physical, tangible, usable space. Wes Anderson’s 1950s-set “Asteroid City” takes place in a fictional desert town as a cosmic event disrupts the annual Junior Stargazer convention. But does the filmmaker actually believe in extraterrestrial life?

That film hasn’t shot yet, but Marsh has already completed a rather different feature, Dance First. A sweeping account of the life of literary icon Samuel Beckett (the title is taken from his ethos, “Dance first, think later”), the film sees Gabriel Byrne as the Nobel Prize winner in a story that covers the many aspects of his younger years: from Parisian bon vivant to WWII resistance fighter and philandering husband.

Nonfiction films can be an incredibly powerful way to get information. Truth is often so subjective that humans tend to believe what their eyes tell them first, which is why documentaries are such an impactful genre of storytelling. Well-made documentaries and docuseries can show beauty and wonder, but can also hold dark and sometimes uncomfortable truths.
Sadly, there is less of this content being made, according to new data from Diesel Labs. Diesel’s numbers indicate that the growth rate in releases of documentary films and series slowed dramatically in 2022. The release volume of such content only grew by 10% last year, as compared to a rate of 126% in 2021. In fact, last year was the only year since 2017 in which the release volume of documentaries did not exceed the previous year’s rate by more than 35%.

On 12 April, it was announced that The Big Bang Theory universe is expanding, with plans for a spin-off from the hit series’ original creators.
The news was made public at the Warner Brothers Discovery press day, the same day the company announced its new platform Max, a rebranded HBO Max and Discovery+ merger.
Executive producer Chuck Lorre, who co-created the original Big Bang Theory series with Bill Prady, will develop a new show for Max “derived from” the original series. Plot details are still unknown. A new series based on the Harry Potter novels has also been ordered.
It’s not the first spin-off series of the show, with Young Sheldon now in its sixth season
The Big Bang Theory ran for 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019. It starred John Galecki and Jim Parsons as two physicist friends, with Kaley Cuoco as their neighbour Penny.
