For those that haven’t seen the film, Dream a Little Dream tells the story of Bobby (Feldman) who, after some spiritual shenanigans and yoga in the garden, swaps bodies with Jason Robards’ Coleman Ettinger. And Coleman’s wife (played by Piper Laurie) swaps bodies, sort of, with Bobby’s high school crush Lainie (Meredith Salenger). And like all good body swap films, Coleman must find a way to swap back tie Bobby by helping him get the girl… If he can survive high school and the aggressive, dangerous behaviour of Lainie’s boyfriend Joel (William McNamara).

I grew up with Flight of the Navigator. It’s always been one of my favourite movies. A family sci-fi adventure film that kinda fell under the radar to some degree and has since become a cult classic. It’s charming, it’s funny, it’s nostalgic as hell and it’s incredibly entertaining, so I was completely and utterly on board when Second Sight announced their upcoming Blu-ray release. A limited edition release with special features, extra goodies and a new transfer? Fans are very happy. I had a chance to take a look at the blu-ray release and here are my thoughts on it, as well as my opinions, all these years later, on the film itself.

Sacha Baron Cohen’s “The Dictator” has invaded theaters, featuring His Excellency, the incomparable Admiral General Aladeen, in his feature film debut.
But the beloved Admiral General is far from the only despot to reign over the big screen throughout the years, so as a celebration of this momentous occasion in his glorious reign, we thought it might be instructive (not to mention entertaining) to take a look a back at some of filmdom’s other most feared (or mocked) tyrants.
Pharaoh Rameses II
A heavyweight among our lineup of autocrats, Rameses II has roots that are not just historical, but biblical to boot. But it was the screen presence of Yul Brynner that brought him to life in modern times, as the vindictive and arrogant Pharaoh in 1956’s "The Ten Commandments," who just doesn’t know when to quit, even after Moses (Charlton Heston) tells him to “Let my people go!

"Captain America: The First Avenger" made its star-spangled debut in theaters this past weekend, completing the introduction of the characters who will form the core of next year’s "Avengers." Like Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor before him, Captain America hails from a long comic tradition, but in his case, that history stretches back a full seven decades to the early years of the Second World War, giving those working on the film an even deeper well of stories to draw upon.
As a service to you, our readers, we’re delving into that rich history to show you just where the movie folks came up with the elements that went into this latest Marvel blockbuster. If you haven't seen the film yet, consider this your Spoiler Warning!

The saga of Harry Potter has come to a close on the big-screen with the release of "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2." As a wizard, Harry’s primary tool of the trade is magic, and there is magic aplenty in this final film, particularly in the form of items which have been enchanted with magical powers, and are utilized by heroes and villains alike in the war for wizardly supremacy.
After the jump, we’re taking a look at some of these key arcane objects that drive the film’s story, and breaking down for you just what they can do in the right hands… or the wrong ones.

Since their debut in 1984, the Transformers have seen many incarnations throughout the full range of media, from comics to cartoons, to toys and, of course, live-action film.
With the latest installment of their big-screen franchise, "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon," rolling out into theaters today (June 29), we’re taking a look at the key characters in this summer blockbuster, and seeing how they developed from their classic forms in the original animated series and the comics into the big-screen blockbuster stars they are today.
Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) is the leader of the heroic Autobots. The most iconic of Transformers, his character is the one that has remained the most consistent across media, although there are inevitably differences.
Both the comics and cartoon hold Optimus and his Autobots to have crash-landed on Earth in pre-historic times, where they remained inert until a volcanic eruption awoke them in the modern era.

Hal Jordan, also known as the intergalactic peacekeeper Green Lantern, has his hands full patrolling the spaceways and keeping ne’er-do-wells from threatening the cosmos. As his patrol extends to the big screen this weekend, we decided to look at some of the biggest threats he’s been called on to combat in the line of duty.
What follows is a rundown of the greatest Green Lantern villains of all time from the character's comics history. Should you encounter any of these dangerous rogues, do not attempt to make contact; report the sighting to your local Green Lantern Corps representative immediately.
Sinestro
Sinestro is, without question, Hal Jordan’s archenemy, not just because of the threat he poses, but because of how close he once was to our hero. Sinestro was himself one of the greatest Green Lanterns, and even took it upon himself to train a rookie Hal Jordan.

"X-Men: First Class," the fifth film in the X-Men big-screen franchise, hit theaters this weekend and took audiences even deeper into the origins of Marvel's mutant team. The origins of the movie itself, however, lie between the pages of almost 50 years of X-Men comic books, which the film draws heavily upon in order to craft its own tale of how the X-Men came to be.
Given all of that source material, we decided to take a look at just which elements of the comics made it onto the screen, and how the movie follows — or in some cases, takes a twist on — those classic X-Men stories.
If you haven't seen the film yet, consider this your Spoiler Warning. We'll be discussing details of the plot throughout this guide.

The past few weeks have seen a shrinking presence for DC Comics in the live-action television world. "Smallville" concluded its 10-year run with a two-hour series finale on The CW, Fox canceled "Human Target," and NBC passed on the "Wonder Woman" series.
However, comics seem more popular than ever on the big screen, with DC’s "Green Lantern" hitting theaters next month, and the next installment of Christopher Nolan's live-action Batman films, "The Dark Knight Rises," beginning production last week.
With all of that in mind, we decided to take a look at some of the DC properties that might make for good live-action television down the road — and hopefully good ratings, too!

It’s been a long journey for Marvel Comics’ Thor from the four-color pages of his origin to the big screen, but what’s nearly 50 years to an immortal God of Thunder anyway?
This weekend, "Thor" hit theaters nationwide, and because it's part of the official Marvel Cinematic Universe, the comics that inspired it aren’t drawn upon just for passing references or surface similarities, but instead are woven throughout the film and form the basis of its story.
With that in mind, we took an in-depth, scene-by-scene look at the film, and examined exactly which classic stories played a role in making this latest comic book film epic. We've done the research so you don't have to, and you can consider this your unofficial guide to the source material that inspired Thor's big-screen debut.

“Iron Man 2” hits theaters this weekend in the U.S., and while the first film served primarily as an origin tale and introduction to the character, this second film promises to expand upon the character and his world by drawing upon several different characters and storylines from the Marvel Universe.
MTV News took a look back through Iron Man's history to see how some of the film's primary source material from the comics world was adapted for the big screen.
One of the most anticipated additions to the “Iron Man” film series is the villain Whiplash, played by Mickey Rourke. Interestingly, the film version of Whiplash is actually a composite of two Iron Man villains. In the comics, there is indeed a member of Iron Man's rogues gallery named Whiplash (a.k.a. In Jennifer's Body (in theaters today), Adam Brody, our favorite geek hero from The O.C., tries evil on for size. He plays the lead singer of a devil-worshipping emo band that attempts to sacrifice Jennifer (Megan Fox) because they think she's a virgin and it will bring them greater fame. (He doesn't do his own vocals: "My singing voice is still going through puberty," he says. "They gave me a singing lesson or two, and it’s not the worst thing in the world, but it’s not anything anyone would choose to hear.") Unfortunately, since Jennifer's not pure, a demon takes over her body and starts feeding on high school boys. Almost as dangerous as Megan Fox with a supernatural appetite? The EW Pop Culture Personality Test. Brody submitted to one and had a couple of friends over in case he needed backup... Entertainment Weekly: The best concert you’ve ever seen?...

This week's "Race to Witch Mountain," starring Dwayne Johnson and Carla Gugino, is the latest remake-- ahem, modern reimagining from Walt Disney Studios. Though the Mouse House's animated classics remain sacrosanct (if the jumping-off point of direct-to-dvd sequels), the live-action library has been pillaged for endless redos intended for theaters or the Disney Channel, which is where a previous remake of "Escape to Witch Mountain" starring Robert Vaughn and Brad Dourif premiered in 1995. Nothing is safe from the remake button over at Disney, so here are four more properties we fully expect to receive the same treatment in the near future, and proposals on how best to bring the projects into the 21st century. The only reason the immortally cheesy "Tron" didn't make the list is because they're already shooting a sequel.
