Apple TV+ has now released the new tense trailer for Presumed Innocent, the limited series coming to the streaming service courtesy of David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams. The legal drama has Jake Gyllenhaal in for the fight of his life as he defends himself from allegations of murdering a peer with whom he shared a complicated entanglement. It doesn’t look good for Gyllenhaal’s character, as a plethora of evidence is working against him, and he can only continually profess his innocence.
The official synopsis reads,
“Gyllenhaal is set to star as Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor whose world is upended when a close colleague is murdered — and the evidence begins to point to Rusty himself. The role would be his first ongoing part in a TV series. Presumed Innocent was previously adapted for a 1990 feature film that starred Harrison Ford as Sabich, along with Bonnie Bedelia and Raul Julia.

Star Trek is one of the best-known and most beloved science-fiction franchises of all time. The series, when it originally began, was a pioneering show that was both commercially successful and became a cult classic. The following the series has is enormous, and despite the fact that not all iterations have been equally good, people really like Star Trek, and people always want more. The franchise as a whole is still alive and well, with several pioneering shows being produced in recent years, but the movie franchise saw its most recent work eight years ago when Star Trek Beyond was released back in 2016. Paramount has been looking into reviving the movie series, and it seems that things are looking good right now.

Hot on a role right now, Glen Powell is set for a reimaging of ‘Heaven Can Wait’ which is in early development at Paramount Pictures.
Based on Harry Segall’s play of the same name, the story made its way to the big screen back in 1978 and starred Warren Beatty. It focused on Beatty’s NFL quarterback who dies prematurely due to an antsy angel and returns to Earth in the body of a recently murdered millionaire. Beatty also co-directed the film with Buck Henry and co-wrote the script with Elaine May.
Also in news – Steve Carrell set for HBO untitled comedy series
Oscar winner Stephan Gaghan is set to pen the latest iteration of the story. Powell and Gaghan’s upcoming project is reportedly not a remake and will not centre around a football player as the main character. However, it will retain the concept of a man being taken away before his time.

The Star Trek reboot may get another producer after hiring writer Seth Grahame-Smith and Andor director Toby Haynes for the project. Simon Kinberg, who produced the X-Men films, is reportedly in talks with Paramount Pictures to serve as a producer in the new iteration of the franchise. However, fans are not happy with Kinberg’s involvement in the project as his recent portfolio has been largely lackluster.

Paramount Pictures has a few successful franchises, but the studio's apparent inability to do more with Star Trek is beyond confusing.
When J.J. Abrams relaunched the franchise in 2009, the stage was set for it to become a mainstream property, something which looked increasingly likely when the sequels - Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond - were also moderate box office hits. Unfortunately, Star Trek 4 has been stuck in development hell for several years.
Filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino, Matt Shakman, Lindsey Beer, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet are just some of the names who have been attached to the movie in recent years, with none of them ultimately sticking around.
Now, with it seemingly no closer to becoming a reality, it seems Paramount's next prequel project is finally taking shape.

It was announced today in the Hollywood Reporter that Simon Kinberg is taking over the development of the new "Star Trek" feature film, currently working its way through pre-production at Paramount. This new film will be the fourth to be connected to the Kelvin timeline of "Star Trek," a timeline which started with the events of J.J. Abrams' 2009 "Star Trek" film. As of this writing, Toby Haynes ("Andor") is slated to direct, while Seth Grahame-Smith has signed on to write. Kinberg is a notable Hollywood player who wrote "X-Men: The Last Stand," "X-Men: Days of Future Past," "X-Men: Apocalypse," and "Dark Phoenix" (among many others) and who produced "The New Mutants," "Deadpool," "Logan," "X-Men: First Class," "Cinderella," "The Martian," and "Elysium" (among many others). He is a franchise guy through-and-through, and Paramount likely wanted a new producer with high-profile experience.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix’s Simon Kinberg is in talks to produce new Star Trek film franchise at Paramount
As Paramount+ is keeping the Star Trek brand going with their new TV iterations, the movie side of the mountain has been hatching a plan to revitalize Gene Roddenberry’s vision of a peaceful future for the big screen. There are multiple projects in development, which include a swan song for the Kelvin Universe crew which began with 2009’s J.J. Abrams Star Trek. Early last year, Abrams teased his Star Trek 4, saying, “I will say it’s the first time [since the original reboot] that we have a story that feels as compelling as the first one.” However, the series star, Chris Pine, is kept in the dark about it, “In Star Trek land, the actors are usually the last people to find out anything. I know costume designers that have read scripts before the actors.”

Veteran producer Simon Kinberg, who oversaw most of the “X-Men” movies for 20th Century Fox, is in talks to produce an upcoming “Star Trek” movie for Paramount Pictures, Variety has confirmed.

Along with that, they also revealed they’ve also snagged a treatment for Episodes VII-ix directly from the mastermind himself, George Lucas. Yet, amidst the chaos, it was the Star Wars fans who were confused the most.

Cannes is not lacking for glamor this year, even in the documentary lineup.
Among the films premiering at the festival is Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes, an HBO feature documentary directed by Nanette Burstein and produced by J.J. Abrams, Glen Zipper, Sean M. Stuart, and Bill Gerber. The documentary draws on conversations with the star recorded decades ago for an autobiography.
“Entirely through the efforts of the [Taylor] estate, they were able to track those tapes down and reclaim them,” Zipper explained in an interview just before he flew to Cannes. “I remember getting an email from one of the trustees of the estate of a picture of the tapes in a box on a private jet on their way back to Los Angeles, strapped in with a seatbelt.”

Despite being seen as a step down compared to the original trilogy, George Lucas’ prequel trilogy did add something new to the galaxy far, far away, which can’t be said for the sequels. While it was 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker that put the final nail in the coffin for the sequel trilogy, which pushed Disney to stray away from the big screen releases, the initial entry too failed to win over Lucas.
Lucas criticized the films for their lack of originality, and fans couldn’t agree more with that sentiment, especially in the case of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In a galaxy far, far away, the Skywalker name has always been synonymous with heroes, legends, and the ultimate battle between light and dark. With Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley) taking on the iconic family name at the end of J. J. Abrams’ 2019 flick, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the legacy of the Skywalker lineage lives on in a new and powerful way.
Rey’s decision to become a Skywalker was not just a passing moment or a mere token of gratitude; it was a deeply personal and meaningful choice that honored the Jedi who had shaped her into the powerful Force-wielder she had become.

A newly released collectible revealed the thoughts of Rey, where she cited her master, Luke Skywalker, his sister, Leia Organa, and her beloved friend-turned-enemy-turned-savior, Ben Solo, as the driving forces behind her choice.

Marvel hasn't been having the best time of late and the shaky attempt to recapture lightning in a bottle that was "Thor: Love and Thunder" is a good example. Whereas its predecessor, "Thor: Ragnarok," saw star Chris Hemsworth leaning into his comedic sensibilities to great effect, even Hemsworth himself agreed that "Love and Thunder" was just too silly. But when the God of Thunder made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut all the way back in 2011, the opposite was true.
Whereas "Iron Man," the film that changed Hollywood forever by kicking off the massively popular interconnected universe, was led by Robert Downey Jr. and his magnetic charisma, 2011's "Thor" was a darker affair that embraced the character's origins and delivered what was essentially a fantasy adventure with relative unknowns in the lead roles of Thor and Loki. In the late-aughts, Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston did not enjoy the superstar status they do today,...

It was recently revealed that, after a successful few years on streaming, Paramount Pictures is finally making moves to bring the Star Trek franchise back to theaters. However, a fourth instalment in the J.J. Abrams-produced franchise getting yet another writer is news to lead star Chris Pine.
The actor first played Captain Kirk in 2009's Star Trek, later reprising the role in 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness and 2016's Star Trek Beyond.
Abrams sharing plans for a fourth instalment a few years back left most of the cast scratching their heads as none of them were signed up to appear at the time. Now, after several aborted launches, Steve Yockey is the latest scribe to take a crack at the screenplay.
Asked about that by Business Insider (via SFFGazette.com), Pine said, "I honestly don’t know. There was something in the news of a new writer coming on board.

After originally being developed for the HBO Max streaming service, Batman: Caped Crusader found a new home on Prime Video early last year, and we finally have a first look at the highly-anticipated animated series.
Bat-fans have been anxiously awaiting a teaser for the show, and while we may have to wait a little longer, EW has now debuted a batch of images spotlighting the Dark Knight and some very different takes on several of his villains.
While speaking to the site, Bruce Timm and character designer James Tucker noted that they decided to make the new show a '40s-set period piece in an effort to set it apart from the original '90s Batman: The Animated Series.
“James and I are both really big fans of movies from that era, so we decided to really lean into that in terms of the clothes, the cars, the architecture, and the level of technology,...

As wonderful as X-Men ’97 has been, even the most devoted Marvel Zombie has to admit that the gold standard of superhero animation remains Batman: The Animated Series. Created by Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski, the show told some of the all-time greatest stories about the Dark Knight, and even launched an ongoing universe with Justice League, Batman Beyond, and Static Shock.
So when Warner Bros. announced Batman: Caped Crusader from Timm, fans took notice, especially with J.J. Abrams and The Batman director Matt Reeves on board as producers. It's been a long time coming but we've finally got our first real look at "Batman: Caped Crusader." The upcoming animated series from "Batman: The Animated Series" co-creator Bruce Timm and producers J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves has encountered a few setbacks on its journey to release, but is now set to debut on August 1, 2024, on Amazon's Prime Video.
Details about "Batman: Caped Crusader" were first revealed at DC FanDome back in 2021, where we were promised a show that would tell a whole new story rather than continuing where "Btas" left off. Timm also characterized the show as "more 'Batman: [The] Animated Series' than 'Batman: [The] Animated Series,'" revealing that "Caped Crusader" would return to the "original principles" of the '90s show but would have no limitations in terms of "adult content," "violence," and "adult themes."
