“Joker” won the feature film award and topped the publicity teams behind Netflix’s “The Irishman,” Universal’s “Us,” Sony’s “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” Paramount’s “Rocketman” and Disney-Marvel’s “Avengers: Endgame.” The Joaquin Phoenix vehicle was a smash with more than $1 billion in global box office along with receiving 11 Academy Award nominations.
The first season of Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian” took the television awards over the campaigns for “Catch 22,” “Fosse/Verdon,” “Pose,” and “Stranger Things.”
Steven Huvane of Slate PR won the Les Mason award, presented by longtime client Jennifer Aniston, who told the audience, “You really are some of the hardest working people in this town.

Oh, the irony! I’ve been covering Hollywood industry awards as a journalist for 30 years and now I’m nominated for the Press Award bestowed by Hollywood’s leading PR guild: Icg Publicists. It’s so gracious of them – thank you, huzzahs to all – but now I’ll get a toxic dose of what I report on all the time: nominee jitters.
Uh-oh: do my Hollywood industry peers really, really like me? Should I campaign aggressively? Rent out billboards on Sunset Boulevard? What should I wear on Feb. 7 when the winner is revealed at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in the same room where the Golden Globes are doled out?
Lucky for me, I know the drill. I’ve been nominated, and lost, twice in the past. Only 16 more defeats and I’ll be the Susan Lucci of the Publicists’ Award! So, please, save me: spread the word across town — Vote for Tom!

Exclusive: Entertainment PR bigwig 42West is expanding its below-the-line publicity group, setting Rachel Aberly to spearhead the now bi-coastal division that will focus on strategies showcasing the work of film and TV crafts artists for both awards-season and overall release campaigns.
The new commitment will allow Aberly and her team to tap the expertise of other 42West divisions, giving campaigns more depth and widening the pool of stories available to tell in the craft space.
Aberly joined 42West’s Los Angeles office in May 2017 for her second stint with the firm, after spending seven years at Pmk. She had been a unit publicist and has worked at Participant, MGM and TriStar.
“As a longtime studio publicist, unit publicist and agency executive, Rachel has an unparalleled and deep understanding and affection for their work,” co-CEOs Leslee Dart and Amanda Lundberg said. “Her approach is unique due to the 20 years she spent...

Exclusive: Pmk*Bnc has formed a film marketing and distribution department. It will be headed by Marian Koltai-Levine, the former marketing head of Fine Line Features and Picturehouse. Koltai-Levine, who started Zipline Entertainment after Bob Berney's Picturehouse was shuttered, is bringing her entire staff over to Pmk*Bnc. The move is to be announced this morning. Koltai-Levine adds another dimension to Pmk*Bnc, which formed in January when InterPublic merged PR powerhouses Pmk/Hbh and Bragman Nyman Cafarelli, with Bnc's Michael Nyman and Chris Robichaud running the venture with Pmk/Hbh's Cindi Berger. That merge was a tumultuous undertaking that reshaped the showbiz PR landscape: among other defections, Simon Halls, Robin Baum and Stephen Huvane, left with Andy Gelt to form Slate with Ina Treciokas, and Jennifer Allen and Melissa Kates exited and brought their clients to launch Viewpoint. Koltai-Levine brings a Zipline staff that includes Nina Baron, Nathalie Kohen,...

Publicity firm Pmk*Bnc has drafted Zipline Entertainment's Marian Koltai-Levine and her eight-person staff to run its new film marketing and distribution department.
"Bringing in Marian allows Pmk*Bnc to round out its entertainment division with a completely integrated film marketing and communications department, as well as adds distribution capabilities that we’ve never had before," said Cindi Berger, chairman and CEO of Pmk*Bnc, which was formed in January, when Pmk/Hbh and Bnc merged.
Koltai-Levine, who previously headed marketing at both Picturehouse and Fine Line Features, launched Zipline in April, 2009 in response to the changing indie film business by offering filmmakers both marketing expertise and theatrical distribution services for those who chose to self-distribute their films.
Since then the outfit done work for such features as John Crowley's "Is Anybody There?" and Chris Nelson's "Ass Backwards," the New York publicity for Lisa Cholodenko's "The Kids Are All Right...
