Back in 1997, Disney’s Hercules became a massive hit, earning a total of $252.7 million on an $85 million budget, which was an exceptional amount of money at the time. It also became a part of history as one of Disney’s most beloved animated features. The original movie featured the voice talents of Tate Donovan (as Hercules), Danny DeVito (as Philoctetes), James Woods (as Hades), and Susan Egan (as Megara), but the House of the Mouse thinks it is time for a remake and so a live-action version is coming along. Guy Ritchie has signed on to direct and while we don’t have any known cast members for you, we have some interesting rumors.
Not so long ago, we reported that Dua Lipa is being eyed to take over the role of Megara, and in this report, we can confirm that a name is being mentioned in association with the role of Hades,...

In 1997, Disney released its animated film Hercules, which became a major hit globally. It earned an amazing $252.7 million on an $85 million budget, which was an exceptional amount of money back then, and it made history as one of Disney’s most beloved animated features. The original movie featured the voice talents of Tate Donovan (as Hercules), Danny DeVito (as Philoctetes), James Woods (as Hades), and Susan Egan (as Megara), some of who reprised their roles in the sequel animated series and the animated prequel. But, with Disney doing its series of live-action remakes of its animated classics, we know that Hercules is also being remade, and some recent rumors suggest that we have a chief candidate for the role of Megara!
These rumors come from Skyler Shuler, a well-known Disney insider, who has taken the time to answer some of the fans’ questions, one of which also had to do...

Following persistent rumors, we got word that Disney was officially moving forward with a live-action remake of Hercules back in 2022, with Aladdin director Guy Ritchie set to helm the project and Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo on board as producers.
Updates have been few and far between since then, and we're still waiting to find out which actors are going to bring life to the main characters.
Previous rumors have claimed that Taron Edgerton and Ariana Grande were up for the roles of Hercules and Meg, and while there's every chance they will end up being cast, we may be able to add another name to the mix for the movie's female lead.
According to reliable Disney source the DisInsider, pop megastar turned actress Dua Lipa might be a contender to play Meg. He doesn't say whether she's actually in talks, only that the studio "likes" her for the part.

Having not released a film since 2017’s Downsizing, director Alexander Payne follows up what is considered the weakest film of his career with an absolutely wonderful work. At the Barton boarding school, bad-tempered professor Paul Hunham (Paul Giamatti) is forced to remain on campus during the Christmas break to look after a handful of students with nowhere to go – collectively known as The Holdovers. Across the break, he forms a bond with student Angus Tully (Dominic Sessa) and head cook Mary (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).
From the opening moments where the studio logos and ratings title card appear in retro styles, Payne recreates the feel of a ‘70s feature throughout his latest work. The combination of aesthetic and story brings to mind a Hal Ashby film,...

Haven't any of these politicians heard they should be careful what they wish for?
They all try to get Frank to do what they want, but it never works out the way they expect.
On Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 5, Tate Donovan's character was the latest person to insist Frank come to a meeting Frank didn't want to attend, and as usual, it didn't work out as expected.
Frank's stance on the Teamster Union idea was confusing. He told the Dream Team he was for it in principle, told Terry he was against it, and told his family he saw both pros and cons.
Frank is usually intractable because his decisions are based on deeply held values, so the inconsistency didn't make much sense.
Still, he followed the tried-and-true Frank Reagan formula of dealing with politicians who want him to co-sign opinions he disagrees with. He always refuses to attend the meeting,...

Every Christmas movie has to have its scrooge. In Alexander Payne’s holiday-set dramedy The Holdovers, the curmudgeon is Paul Hunham (Paul Giamatti), a long-time teacher at Barton Academy, an elite Massachusetts boarding school. Paul treats the affluent students in his ancient history class with contempt, gleefully terrorizing them with poor grades in order to trip up their otherwise smooth rides to fancy colleges. He’s the kind of teacher who flunks almost everyone on their end-of-semester exam and then assigns the class extra homework over the holidays as prep for yet another exam as soon as they get back. Bah humbug, indeed.
It’s not just the students at Barton who loathe Paul. So does the school’s administration. Hence Paul being saddled with holdover duty over the winter break—that is, to supervise any students who, for whatever reason, can’t go on lavish vacations like the rest of their peers,...

Can it really be 20 years since “The O.C.” premiered on Fox? The young actors of the series, Benjamin McKenzie, Adam Brody, Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson quickly became in-demand stars and the theme song “California” by Phantom Planet became a top ten hit in several countries while also reaching 35 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart.

On August 5, 2003, the Fox network premiered The O.C., a teen drama set against the lush backdrop of Newport Beach, California, about the chaos that ensues when wealthy lawyer Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher) takes Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie), a kid from the wrong side of the tracks, to live with his family in their huge McMansion. The show was an instant sensation, making stars out of McKenzie, Mischa Barton (as fragile Newport princess Marissa Cooper), Adam Brody (as Sandy’s nerdy son Seth), and Rachel Bilson (as Seth’s forever crush...

Focus Features has launched the trailer for the poignant comedy feature ‘The Holdovers.’
Starring Paul Giamatti as a universally disliked and curmudgeonly instructor (Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go.
Eventually, he forms an unlikely bond with one of them – a damaged, brainy 15-year-old troublemaker (Sessa) – and with the school’s head cook, who caters to sons of privilege and has just lost a son in Vietnam (Randolph).
All three are very different shipwrecked people who share comic misadventures during two very snowy weeks in New England and realise that none of them is beholden to their past.
Directed by Alexander Payne, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Carrie Preston, Gillian Vigman, Tate Donovan, Michael Provost, Brady Hepner and newcomer Dominic Sessa star.

For a long time, Teen Dramas were my guilty pleasure. I wasn’t into the standard stuff like 90210 or Party of Five. No, I either hated those shows, or I just never saw them. My favorites were shows like My So-Called Life or Freaks and Geeks. I think it was because, much like the characters on the show, I fell in love with them. Like soap opera fans, I became invested in the character’s relationships. But, unlike previous shows, The O.C. was one of those rare shows that gave you just enough drama that it didn’t go into full-blown melodrama.
Okay, that’s a lie. It gave you A Lot of melodrama at times. But for some strange reason, the show felt sincere. While many of these teen dramas at the time felt like they were writing episodes for ratings, the O.C. just felt like they were telling good stories.

CinemaCon continues to dominate the news cycle, and Focus Features is on the main stage this evening alongside Universal Pictures to share details, footage, and trailers for their upcoming slate.
During the presentation, Peter Kujawski, Chairman of Focus Features, pushed back the notion that specialty studios are struggling. He says the data shows they’ve bounced back as well or better than anyone else, as they appeal to a hardcore cinema-loving audience. Kujawski says their fans are the people that attend movies multiple times in theaters. He also notes that blockbuster directors like Christopher Nolan, David Gordon Green, Rian Johnson, and more started by directing “specialty films,” They need to keep making those movies to foster the next generation of outstanding filmmakers.

[Editor’s note: This story contains major spoilers for “Ghosted.”]
Star power is hardly in short supply in Dexter Fletcher’s “Ghosted,” which reunites “Knives Out” co-stars Chris Evans and Ana de Armas as a pair of would-be lovers who meet cute, have a great date, and then are torn apart by the revelation that one of them (twist: it’s de Armas!) is an American spy who, understandably, doesn’t really have time for love.
But when Evans’ unlucky-in-love Cole decides to go after de Armas’ Sadie, believing she’s simply on a run-of-the-mill business trip and would welcome his grand romantic gesture. What follows is an action-adventure story with a dash of romance and plenty of big, things-go-boom set pieces, as the pair get pulled into a globe-trotting spy thriller.
But Evans and de Armas aren’t the only big names in the film — it also features everyone from Adrien Brody and Amy Sedaris to Tate Donovan...

It’s been a dreadful year — Ok, few years — for romcoms. This year gave us Shotgun Wedding, a J.Lo-starring smorgasbord about a destination wedding overrun by pirates; You People, Kenya Barris’ tone-deaf interracial-dating romcom whose big kiss was faked by CGI; and Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher’s Your Place or Mine, with leads that spent close to the entire movie on opposite sides of the country and had zero chemistry. Enter Ghosted, which is so dreadful it makes the aforementioned films look like When Harry Met Sally by comparison.

Through roles in Knives Out and Defending Jacob, Evans has tried to stretch himself beyond the realm of comic books by selecting projects that are nowhere near comparisons to Steve Rogers. With Ghosted, Evans takes on a role that could not be any less like his iconic superhero role while still allowing him to have fun with stunts, spectacle, and a fair amount of comedy. Hard to believe, but we’ve not taken a trip into “rom-com” land in 2023. Really? Has this staple been dormant for several months, but with those warmer Spring temps, well, where do most hearts venture? Oh, and since we’re getting nearer to Summer this one’s a hybrid as it’s really a “rom-com-spy-thriller”.This isn’t rare as we’ve seen this played out for at least 30 years, going back to Arnold and new Oscar darling Jamie Lee in True Lies (which inspired a recent CBS TV series). And in the last dozen or so years we’ve had the big “spy reveals” in Knight And Day (Tom Cruise) and Killer (Ashton Kutcher), not to mention the double reveal in Mr. And Mrs. Smith (Bradgilina begins). Well, this new one has a bit of a twist in that the undercover agent is a lady. Plus it also takes...

The romantic action comedy has always had a breathlessly eager-to-please, overstuffed quality. You might say it’s a what’s-not-to-like genre. We laugh! With pulses racing! And swoon at the moonstruck chemistry! In a superior rom-act-com, like “Romancing the Stone” or “Out of Sight” or “True Lies” or the new “Murder Mystery” sequel, the action is the romance — it’s how the characters connect. (One way the form extends vintage Hollywood screwball is that it tends to be about couples who so dislike each other that only by joining in death-defying scrapes can they melt the ice.) But then there are movies like “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” where the love gets sandwiched between vehicular mayhem so aggressive it’s played for “laughs,” and the too-muchness of the whole thing becomes like one of those fast-food fusion experiments. Sorry, but the movie escapism equivalent of a burger topped with a quesadilla...

We all have a few skeletons in our closets, don’t we? Or in this case, let’s call them ghosts; people (including romantic interests) we have abruptly stopped responding to hoping they’d just disappear without a confrontation.
In actor-turned-director Dexter Fletcher’s spy rom-com “Ghosted”—a cookie-cutter but adequately fun flick that could’ve used some sharpening up on the page—Sadie Rhodes (Ana de Armas) has countless ghosts in her past, and not just the romantic kind. Posing as an art curator but working as a deadly and powerful CIA spy, Sadie simply doesn’t have the time to keep those ghosts alive and well. So, where could her fiery one-night-stand possibly go with Chris Evans’ wholesome Cole, a modest East Coast farmer who still lives at home and has never even left the country before?

If you found yourself craving a full meal of Ana de Armas as a butt-kicking CIA agent after the appetizer serving in No Time to Die, Apple TV+ has got you covered. The Oscar-nominated Blonde survivor plays another unflappable American intelligence agent, as handy with her fists as her guns, in Ghosted, rekindling her Knives Out chemistry with Chris Evans, in amusing fish-out-of-water mode as a farmer unwittingly dragged along on a hair-raising, globe-hopping mission. Dexter Fletcher’s action-adventure rom-com doesn’t break the mold, but it’s fun and flashy enough to grab viewers in significant numbers.
Apple and Skydance have certainly thrown some resources at the glossy production, from the magnetic leads and elaborate action set-pieces right down to the major-name cameos that pop up in humorous guises. The script is the combined effort of seasoned Spider-Man team Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers with Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Ghosted is an over-caffeinated action comedy romance that tries too hard to be too many things, starting out as a sweet budding rom-com before drastically morphing into a violent international spy-chase movie anchored by a constantly bickering couple. This is one of those Hollywood movies that rarely slows down to breathe, throwing everything at the wall and just hoping some of it sticks.
It is also the kind of big-scale concoction that lives or dies on the appeal of its two big movie stars. Chris Evans saved the world (and even the universe) multiple times as Captain America. But in his latest Apple TV+ action film “Ghosted,” it’s Ana de Armas who’s doing the rescuing.
“It was great. I mean, we’ve all seen Ana be badass; she was so good in [‘No Time to Die’],” Evans told Variety at the New York premiere of “Ghosted” on Tuesday night. “It was nice to be the damsel in distress. It was nice to need saving — primarily because I didn’t have to sweat during the action sequences.”
Directed by Dexter Fletcher, “Ghosted” follows hopelessly romantic Cole (Evans), who falls head over heels for the enigmatic Sadie (de Armas). When Sadie seemingly ghosts him, Cole follows her to London as a romantic gesture, only to discover that the girl of his dreams is a CIA agent on assignment.

Peter Werner, the Oscar-winning director known for his television work that spanned five decades and included helming episodes of such popular series as Moonlighting, A Different World, Justified and Law & Order: Svu, has died. He was 76.
Werner died Tuesday morning in Wilmington, North Carolina, his younger brother, Tom Werner (producer on The Cosby Show, Roseanne, That ’70s Show, The Conners), told The Hollywood Reporter. “He had a torn aorta that the doctors weren’t able to repair. So sudden,” he wrote in an email.
As a student project while attending the American Film Institute, Peter Werner directed the 1976 short film In the Region of Ice, which was based on Joyce Carol Oates’ short story and starred Fionnula Flanagan. The project won the Oscar for live-action short film.
His career kicked off from there, with Werner helming a 1977 episode of Family. The ABC drama counted Mike Nichols and Aaron Spelling as executive producers.

Dating in 2023 is a minefield of unspoken rules, ambiguous texts, and busy people whose relationship timelines rarely align. Trying to navigate the social politics of dating apps in search of a partner for life (or the night) is a complex puzzle that often feels more like a geopolitical espionage mission than good old fashioned courtship. Unless you’re Chris Evans in “Ghosted,” in which case it actually is a geopolitical espionage mission. The latest blockbuster from Apple TV+ stars Evans as a guy who just wants to get a second date with a girl who ghosted him, only to find out that she had a very good reason for not texting him back. His attempts to track her down result in him being kidnapped and sucked into a dangerous adventure — where the only person who can save him might be the person who couldn’t be bothered to respond to his DMs.

Chris Evans falls in love with Ana de Armas after just one date in the new trailer for the Apple TV+ romantic action-adventure film Ghosted. As a “grand romantic gesture,” he flies out to London to surprise her — only to find out she’s actually a secret agent.
In the movie, Evans plays a “salt-of-the-earth” guy named Cole who has a meet-cute first date with de Armas’ Sadie and immediately believes she might be “the one.” Undeterred by dozens of unanswered texts, he resolves not to give up and hops on a flight to England.
It doesn’t take long before he is captured and finds out she’s actually a member of the CIA named “The Tax Man” on the run from Adrien Brody, who sends “every bounty hunter on the continent” after her. “You got me kidnapped and tortured after one date,” Cole complains, to which Sadie retorts...

A grand romantic gesture turns into a dangerous international adventure for Chris Evans and Ana de Armas in the trailer for Ghosted, released Monday.
The stars lead the Apple TV+ film centered on Cole (Evans) who, after having a date with Sadie (de Armas), is left confused when she ghosts him and doesn’t respond to his texts. When Evans’ Cole decides to travel to London to surprise Sadie while she works, he makes a shocking discovery that there’s more to Sadie than he realized: She’s a secret agent. The two are then swept away on an international adventure to save the world.
“You got me kidnapped and tortured, all after one date,” Evans’ Cole tells de Armas’ Sadie as they run away from a car that just exploded.
“You’re the one who flew to London,” she tells him, only for him to reiterate, “It was a romantic gesture!
