The Cannes celebration promises to start early for Mediawan, kicking off with Quentin Dupieux’s festival opener “The Second Act,” then Palme d’Or contending Hearts” from Gilles Lellouche and Kirill Serebrennikov’s “Limonov: The Ballad of Eddie,” the epic “The Count of Monte-Cristo” screening out of competition and Un Certain Regard player “Le Royaume” from

The Wolf Man remains one of the horror genre's most iconic movie monsters and in 2017, there were plans for him to take centre stage in Universal's ill-fated "Dark Universe."
The idea of an McU-inspired shared world featuring these creatures crumbled when The Mummy bombed, leaving the studio with no other choice than to part ways with Hollywood heavyweights like Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Russell Crowe, and Javier Bardem.
There's been some chatter about Universal attempting to revive its Dark Universe, but filmmaker Leigh Whannell's Wolf Man won't be part of them.
"As an outsider, I would say that The Mummy's Dark Universe, in my humble opinion, felt like it was reactive to what was going on with all the superhero stuff - the MCU and DC universe," producer Ken Kao tells Screen Rant (via FearHQ.com). "And we know there's been a lot of talk about what...

Dune: Part Two has been available to purchase on Digital services for almost a month now, but Warner Bros. has finally announced a streaming date for Denis Villeneuve's critically-acclaimed sci-fi sequel.
Fans will get to return to Arrakis from the comfort of their couches very soon, as Dune: Part Two is set to premiere on Max next Tuesday, May 21.
Although the movie didn't reach $1 billion as some predicted (always a long shot in the current box office climate), it did pass $700 million worldwide, meaning a third film based on Frank Herbert's second novel, Dune: Messiah, is likely.
Part Three hasn't been officially greenllt, but is believed to be in the early stages of development - though there's no guarantee that Villeneuve will to return to complete the trilogy.
“If we go back, it needs to be real, it needs to be relevant," the filmmaker told Empire in a recent interview.

In Frank Herbert's 1965 novel "Dune," one of the most tragic character arcs was that of Stilgar, the leader of a Fremen tribe who starts off as a reluctant ally to Paul and Jessica. Although seemingly stern and hard to please at first, he quickly becomes seduced by Paul's apparent messiah qualities. By the end of the book he is a devoted worshipper of Paul, declaring him the Lisan al Gaib (messiah) and obeying him blindly and passionately.
Even Paul, who needs Stilgar's support to gain control, is saddened by the way Stilgar's fanaticism has lowered him in Paul's eyes. "I have seen a friend become a worshipper," he laments in the book. It's just one of the many prices he has to pay to become emperor of the universe, and one of the clearest indications of the book's anti-messiah themes. We can see that Paul's ascent is making the people around him worse,...

Just a few months ago, the MCU’s “Fantastic Four” emerged as the most anticipated upcoming movie, with the revelation of its release date and cast. ‘Fantastic Four’ is currently the hottest upcoming MCU movie only a few months ago the release date and cast were announced, confirming what we’ve known for quite a while. Pedro Pascal will be MCU’s new Reed Richards, with Vanessa Kirby taking on the role of Sue Storm. The Thing and the Human Torch will be played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn respectively. Julia Garner will be playing MCU’s version of Silver Surfer.
Filming is expected to begin this summer, and due to the release date being switched, ‘Thunderbolts*’ lost its July 2025 spot being moved to release earlier than expected on May 2, 2025. Despite the main cast being confirmed, there was not a speck of news regarding the movie’s possible villain.
All of this changed today when it was announced that Ralph Ineson will be playing Galactus in the upcoming movie, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

We finally have a face (and voice) for one of the biggest bad guys in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, as THR reports that Ralph Ineson will play Galactus the Devourer of Worlds in The Fantastic Four.
There had been rumblings that Javier Bardem was being eyed for the role of Galactus, but I’ve got to say that I’m more excited about Ralph Ineson tackling the role, particularly with his wonderful voice. The actor is always a highlight in everything I’ve seen him in, with fantastic roles in The Witch, The Green Knight, The Northman, and the recent First Omen movie. Eagle-eyed fans will know that Ineson has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before, playing a Ravager pilot in Guardians of the Galaxy.

All right folks, we know that the film is about cars and F1 cars more specifically. However, the budget seems to be a bit high for Hollywood people. With Brad Pitt starring in a Joseph Kosinski film (the director of Top Gun: Maverick), fans are curious.
With their curiosity, fans are also doubting the film’s success. Debating whether the film will be a flop or the ace of cards, fans can’t really figure out which. The one thing that they can figure out is that a budget of $300 million for a Hollywood film is too much!

Brad Pitt’s Formula One Movie Budget Surpasses $300 Million, Faces Distribution Hurdles. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
News reports suggest that the budget for Brad Pitt‘s Formula One movie has surpassed $300 million, potentially making it one of the most expensive films ever made. The movie has faced challenges in finding a distributor and release date. Factors contributing to the budget increase include the 118-day SAG-AFTRA strike delaying filming, and the use of real actors in genuine race cars, which require extensive training and safety measures, driving up costs. Brad Pitt was seen piloting a modified Formula Two car during the British Prix weekend.
With a budget of $300 million, this Formula One film’s profitability is a steep climb. It needs to pull in over $750 million at the box office to break even. Warner Bros. and Sony are at the forefront for distribution, but the film’s high budget and financial demands...

Anya Taylor-Joy makes a very brief appearance in Dune: Part Two, but if and when Denis Villeneuve returns to helm his adaptation of Dune: Messiah, the Furiosa star will have a much more substantial role.
If you haven't seen the movie yet, spoilers follow.
In Part One, we learn that Paul Atreides' mother, the Bene Gesserit Lady Jessica, is pregnant with the late Duke Leto's child. When the Fremen take in the survivors of the Harkonnen massacre, Jessica agrees to become the tribe's new Reverend Mother (she isn't really given a choice) and is "persuaded" to drink the Water of Life (a blue substance that's been extracted from a juvenile sandworm).
This gives Jessica incredible foresight and knowledge of previous generations, while also awakening similar abilities in her unborn daughter, who begins to communicate with and seemingly influence her mother's actions.

Strikes and delays have reportedly seen the budget on Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski’s Formula 1 movie race past the $300m mark.
If a new report’s accurate, then Apple Studios is in the process of spending a quite sinister amount of money on its forthcoming Formula 1 movie.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Brad Pitt, the film doesn’t currently have an official title – the word was that it was called Apex, also the name of a 2021 Bruce Willis action flick, though that hasn’t been confirmed so far.
What it does have, though, is an absolutely enormous budget; according to Puck, as picked up by World of Reel, the spend so far has breached the $300m mark.
The distribution rights to the movie were snapped up by Apple in 2022, with the company no doubt attracted by the pairing of producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Kosinski, who’d...

“The Sleeper” is structured like a thriller in which the viewer is guided by art dealer Jorge Coll on the tortuous journey of this piece of art, titled “Ecce Homo.” After hanging in the living room of an ordinary Spanish home for decades, the painting was attributed to the circle of the 17th-century Spanish artist José de Ribeira when it was offered for sale at a Madrid auction house in April 2021. It almost sold for just €1,500 before something clicked, prompting experts in Spain and Italy to reexamine the work.

General Hospital fans knew it was coming, but that doesn’t make it sting any less.
When Nicholas Alexander Chavez debuted as Spencer Cassadine, he was an immediate hit with the fan base. Couple that with pairing him with Trina, and magic was made.
Sprina fans were devastated when Spencer “died” after a fall off a boat with Esme (Avery Pohl). Initially, it was set to be a leave of absence while he filmed a Ryan Murphy project, but now it’s an official exit.
Speculation about whether Nicholas was out ran for at least a month, but he hadn’t spoken out until now.
The actor took to X (formerly Twitter) to put out his confirmation that his time on General Hospital had come to an end.

For the first time since his character was seemingly killed off on “General Hospital” earlier this year, actor Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer Cassadine) has officially confirmed his exit from the daytime drama series after posting a formal statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.
“I’m so appreciative of the opportunity that ‘Gh’ gave me, and I wouldn’t be as busy as I am professionally if it weren’t for the talented producers, writers, directors and fellow actors,” began Chavez in his statement before calling attention to Frank Valentini, the show’s executive producer, where he called him a “mentor and friend.” Chavez also notes he and the show are keeping the door open for a potential return should the opportunity arise.
“Frank Valentini is a mentor and a friend, and we’ve had some pretty extensive conversations about my future on the show. While there are no current plans for me to return,...

As The Fantastic Four inches closer to production, the upcoming Marvel Studios reboot continues to round out its cast, and the latest addition is going to be a very busy man over the next couple of years.
After booking roles in Paramount’s Naked Gun reboot and New Line's Chris Farley biopic earlier this week, THR reports that Paul Walter Hauser has also signed on for a part in The Fantastic Four.
Details on his character are being kept under wraps, but there's already speculation that he might be playing the villainous Mole Man.

The Merry Month of May is upon us, but first, there's still some April business to attend. Specifically, Penélope Cruz turned fifty last weekend and celebrated a big party that included such names as husband Javier Bardem, auteur par excellence Pedro Almodóvar, former scene partner Salma Hayek, and many more. Happy belated birthday to the Spanish star!
Here, at The Film Experience, the best way to mark such occasions is surrendering to list-mania, so let's consider this Oscar winner's extensive filmography and sing her praises. We could have received another popular cinematic universe if Universal had been successful in kickstarting the Dark Universe. Sadly, 2017’s The Mummy, which was supposed to kickstart the universe involving the classic Universal monsters failed hard and the plans were scrapped. However, the failure was taken very positively by The Mummy director Alex Kurtzman.
Annabelle Wallis and Tom Cruise in a still from The Mummy
Alex Kurtzman’s The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise, was a reboot of the classic Mummy franchise and featured a unique take. It was very different from the iconic Brendan Fraser movies most audiences were familiar with. The critics and the audiences bashed the film for several weak points. Despite being such a massive mess, Kurtzman stated that the film taught him a lot.

The world of cinema is mostly colorful and bright and it gives you a chance to escape your reality and dive deeper into different sorts of fantasies. It’s so inspiring to see the good always winning despite all the obstacles and for example love beating it all in a romantic comedy.
However, real life is not always like that, that’s why along with the feel-good movies there are also many films that hit hard. It’s especially painful to watch movies like that because deep inside, you still have hope that everything’s going to work out for the best for the main characters. But sometimes it just doesn't…
Here we have 5 movies that will break your heart. So if you are in a mood for some deep thinking and/or crying, this list is for you.

Having won a BAFTA (and landed an Oscar nomination) for her role as Colin Farrell’s kind-hearted but cynical — and distinctly less donkey-friendly — sister in Martin McDonagh’s darkly comic “The Banshees of Inisherin,” Kerry Condon is back in her native Ireland for her next film role.
Set in the height of the Troubles in the mid-1970s, Robert Lorenz’s Irish Western “In the Land of Saints and Sinners,” which launches on Netflix Friday, sees the actress ditch all niceties to play a hard-nosed, mean-as-hell, extremely potty-mouthed and very violent Ira gang leader trying to lie low in rural Donegal following a deadly pub bombing. But it’s not long before she’s up against Liam Neeson, whose demeanor as a quiet widow and secondhand book dealer masks a secret identity as a local hitman for Colm Meaney’s village mobster. Universal Pictures’ The Mummy franchise was a fan favorite when it starred Brendan Fraser as the leading man Rick O’Connell. The first two films in the trilogy were directed by Stephen Sommers, also starred Rachel Weisz and John Hannah, and were box office successes. However, the reboot starring Tom Cruise was a gigantic failure critically and commercially.
While Cruise’s film ended what Universal planned as a series of monster films with a shared universe, a recent fan-made trailer seemed to have followed it up with a new cast. The new trailer is titled The Mummy: Resurrection and sees Keanu Reeves take over the franchise to battle a new evil spirit buried in an Egyptian tomb.
