Christopher Nolan revealed to Empire in an interview that his filmography owes a lot to James Bond films. The director is known for his often non-linear narrative and a commitment to making groundbreaking films, and now it seems a lot of that comes from a love for Bond films.
Batman Begins | Warner Brothers
While inspiration that Nolan has taken from the franchise is clear in films like Tenet, there is another film from the director that takes clear cues from the Bond franchise: his Batman trilogy, starring Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne and Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon.

Director and showrunner Mike Flanagan has always been a "listener" when understanding the human condition.
While his genre of choice has been horror, and primarily psychological horror at that, he has made a career out of listening to what people have to say about religion, guilt, insanity, and death.
He is as much a spiritual guru as a movie director.
Even from his early works, like Absentia and Oculus, one could see Flanagan as a visionary and an interactive designer, determined to deliver the audience an experience they crafted, a game, a nightmare they could vicariously live through archetypical characters.
He became even more crowd-pleaser with his first two ghostly mini-series, The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor.
These epic haunted tales blurred the lines between guilt and fear.

Todd Phillips may be blessed with a keen eye when it comes to cinema but his comments on Christopher Nolan’s universally recognized classic, the Dark Knight trilogy, is a scarily contentious opinion. But as sacred as Christian Bale’s DC outing may have been, there exists a limitation to the height of the pedestal that one is allowed to be raised to.

However, it is with loyalty, dedication, and love that the audience time and again returns to the Dark Knight trilogy. This shows not only an instinctive pull towards the series but also an admiration unmarred by time or repeated watching.

The legacy of Kevin Costner cannot be refuted, despite his insistence on staying on the margins of celebrity worship and fame. However, one thing he could not pull off was being a successful Batman. While he was perfect on paper for the role of the vigilante, the odds were stacked against him as he was cast in Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin.

If you've ever watched any behind-the-scenes footage from "The Shining," you might remember Jack Nicholson working himself up into a frenzy prior to shooting the famous "Here's Johnny" scene. As poor Shelly Duvall quietly finds her way into the bathroom, Jack can be seen seething as he descends into the deranged mental space required for the scene. No wonder "The Shining" changed Shelly Duvall forever.
But while Nicholson's process for journeying to the outer edges of sanity involved jumping in place, repeating the words, "Come on!," and almost accidentally giving the Pa a concussion with a prop axe, not all actors follow that same method. We all know the punishing physical lengths to which Christian Bale goes in order to truly feel like the characters he portrays. As the actor told The Guardian, "I try to get as distant as possible. Otherwise, I can't do it. It's helpful not to look like yourself.

In the quest to capture the essence of the Dark Knight, could anyone overlook Christopher Nolan’s valiant effort in Batman Begins, which starred Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne?
Injecting a dose of realistic, gritty realism into a genre often draped in escapism, Nolan’s 2005 flick definitely left an indelible mark. Yet, it was a single scene that kept it from fully resonating with Batman’s lore custodian, Bruce Timm.
The acclaimed animator (best known as the head producer of Batman: The Animated Series) once pointed out that while Nolan borrowed elements from Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One—a masterpiece in its own right—alterations were made that distanced the film from its source material’s raw authenticity.

He’s twisted time. He’s reinvented Batman. He’s conquered the box office multiple times over. And he’s always done it entirely his own way. There’s nobody out there like Christopher Nolan – a game-changing filmmaker who makes masterpieces like nobody’s business, deploying cerebral cinematic craft to create big-impact blockbusters. Over the last 25 years, he’s proven himself as one of the all-time greats – and so, in the wake of his landmark Oscar wins for Oppenheimer, Empire presents the ultimate tribute: a one-off collector’s edition dedicated to a director like no other.
In this limited-edition magazine, we take a deep-dive trip through Nolan’s entire filmography, presenting not only the finest archive material from the Empire vault – collected as we’ve followed the man’s career through the years – but brand-new articles. Chris Hemsworth is not here for any MCU hate!
The Thor star recently responded to major film directors - including the likes of Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, and Francis Ford Coppola - who have shared a negative opinion of comic book movies.
“It felt harsh, and it bothers me, especially from heroes. It was an eye-roll for me, people bashing the superhero space,” Hemsworth told The UK Times. “Those guys had films that didn’t work too — we all have. When they talked about what was wrong with superheroes, I thought, cool, tell that to the billions who watch them. Were they all wrong?”
“Cinema-going did not change because of superheroes, but because of smartphones and social media," he added. "Superhero films actually kept people in the cinemas during that transition and now people are coming back. So they deserve a little more appreciation.”

In an interview with The Times of London, the Furiosa actor was asked about the comments made by the longtime directors. Scorsese had faced backlash at the time for describing Marvel films as “not cinema.” Meanwhile, Coppola took it further by describing the films as “despicable.”

With a long-standing career that has spanned genres from the mind-bending Inception to the action-fueled Batman trilogy, followed by his space adventure Interstellar, Christopher Nolan is known for being the mastermind behind few of the most celebrated films of the century. Chris Hemsworth got "bored" of himself and suggested playing Thor has stopped him from being "stretched".The 40-year-old actor was delighted to land the role of warlord Dementus in his new movie 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' because it left him feeling invigorated, having spent so long feeling he was "stuck".Admitting it is his favourite role in over 10 years, Chris told Sunday Times Culture magazine: “I felt stuck in what I had been doing. I’d run out of things to say creatively and Furiosa reinvigorated the artistic energy that was dormant. I felt spent at the end of a day, rather than... It’s a departure.“I was bored of myself, yeah. I was not bored of the opportunities I’d been given, but it all started to feel familiar." I’d done film upon film that fell into a similar space and I wasn’t stretching myself.

No matter how dire the circumstances, Batman is known for his unwavering “no-kill” code, which forbids him from taking a life in DC Comics. However, in Injustice God Among Us: Year Three, Bruce Wayne breaks his own rule to protect one of his dearest friends, Superman.
As everyone knows, the Joker from DC is one of the vilest, vicious, and most depraved supervillains. Nevertheless, Superman is restricted by the same code that keeps Batman from killing the Clown Prince of Crime. For similar reasons, both DC superheroes have strong moral codes prohibiting them from killing their enemies. Yet, in recent years, DC comic writers have endeavored to differentiate between the two.

The 2000s saw the action genre in a state of flux. The Matrix revolutionized everything at the end of the previous decade, The Bourne Supremacy would make shaky cameras standard practice in 2004, and the MCU would take flight with Iron Man in 2008. At the same time, Michael Bay reached his ultimate form with Bad Boys II, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Kill Bill made kung fu classy, and Oldboy changed the way we look at hallways.
Within those changes came a host of greats that didn’t get the same attention. Some of these movies represent the first steps in the development of those who would define the genre, such as Scott Adkins and Gareth Evans. Some find stars at the height of the powers, such as Donny Yen and Michael Jai White. And some are just cool, because that’s really all an action movie needs.

There is a widespread Westerns’ trope that lies in the transformation of the badass criminals or simply imperfect characters into the people who realize their sins and try to redeem them by helping their companions, family or even chance passers-by.
Here 5 of the Western antagonists, who demonstrate the will to turn to a bright side, discussed in a recent Reddit discussion.
The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976) - Josey Wales
The fans of the good old Westerns can firstly recall the fierce character of the genre’s king, Clint Eastwood, whose nature is depicted right in the movie’s title. Although he doesn't always keep up the decent morals of Wild West heroes, his villainy can be justified by the grief for his killed family, and he eventually proves his strong desire to return to a calm life as he seeks justice for the weak.

Despite the mysticism of voice-over acting and the mysterious voices behind the animated parts, there remains a strong attraction to the medium of animation for actors who strive for real creative potential beyond the allure of recognition and glamor. In Taika Waititi's 2022 film "Thor: Love and Thunder," an emotionally wounded man named Gorr (Christian Bale) has learned that the very real gods of the Marvel universe are selfish, uncaring, and are more interested in cavorting with nymphs and naiads than answering prayers. By happenstance, he comes into possession of a magical sword specifically designed for killing gods and takes on a quest to rid the universe of its living deities. "Love and Thunder" could have brought up some tantalizingly difficult questions about atheism, or the role of faith in the modern world. It could have mentioned the dubious function of gods in a universe that regularly produces superpowered uber-beings. It didn't. Instead, it was a whimsical slapstick comedy starring a hero who, like Homer Simpson, became dumber and dumber as the series progressed.

Nobody was expecting it, but it’s true: two-time Oscar nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal – who earned a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her performance in the 2010 film Crazy Heart and a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination for writing her 2021 feature directorial debut The Lost Daughter – is writing and directing a film called The Bride!, a new take on the concept of the 1935 classic The Bride of Frankenstein (watch it Here). The Bride! is currently making its way through production and unveiling images that are intriguing, even if there are jarring elements to them. So we thought this was a good time to put together a list of Everything We Know About The Bride!
Studio And Release Date
The Bride! is not set up at Universal Pictures, so this isn’t an official remake of The Bride of Frankenstein, it’s a play on the same concepts found in Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel Frankenstein that inspired the 1935 film.

The Dark Knight trilogy is one of the finest superhero franchises out there, and while The Dark Knight Rises did close the book on Christian Bale’s Batman, screenwriter Jonathan Nolan would eagerly return for more.
Jonathan Nolan, who co-wrote both The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, was asked by Showsha if he’d like to return to the Batman franchise. “Wouldn’t that be a dream?” Nolan said. “That period was 10 years of my life [from] when I got the call to work on Batman Begins, and it was epic. Working with Christian [Bale], Heath [Ledger], Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and to honor an American icon. If I had the chance to go back and work on that again? Absolutely.“
Getting that bang back together would be a tall order, as Nolan admitted, “We’ve moved onto other things,” and “other people have picked up the mantel and moved on with those characters.

At a masterclass on Thursday morning, Zhang spoke of his filmmaking techniques and priorities, his enduring quest for the human touch and why not all films need to be masterpieces.
“Nobody has pure talent. Success also comes from hard work and the kind of luck that pull together an optimal crew and a cast that gels. I don’t believe that all films can be masterpieces and I doubt that I’ve made my best possible film yet. I’m still on the way,” he told a packed audience at Udine’s Teatro Nuovo, most of which had moments earlier watched a screening of his sensational “Raise the Red Lantern,” which had been restored to 4K.

Spoiler alert: As much as Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt remain the undeniable draws of "The Fall Guy," there are multiple contenders in the cast for the sought-after crown of "Best Scene Stealer." You have Aaron Taylor-Johnson, an inspired bit of casting as the insufferable A-lister casting a long shadow over Gosling's stuntman Colt Seavers. Then there's the great Hannah Waddingham, chewing up the scenery (and then some) as the no-nonsense producer Gail Meyer who stops at nothing to keep the show on the road. Heck, you could even go with either of the two dogs that portrayed Jean Claude, the Australian Kelpie that only responds to French commands and takes on an unforgettable supporting role amid all the action.
But more than anyone else, it's Winston Duke who walks away with one of his funniest and most memorable performances in recent years as Dan Tucker, a veteran stunt coordinator...
