- This is probably as near an actual scene of battle as a camera will ever get in modern warfare. It was taken from the second line of entrenchments during the battle of the Upper Tugela, in which the British, under General Buller met with defeat at the hands of the Boers. The British lost about 500 men in this engagement, and our picture, taken at the rear of the British fighting line, shows the wounded being brought in on litters, and in ambulances. The scope of the view is very broad, taking in the Tugela with its temporary pontoon bridge, and the reserve force on the opposite bank of the river, and the distance mountains where the Boers are stationed. Spion Kop is prominent among the peaks. Photographically the subject is sharp and clear.
- The men ride up at a gallop, dismount, lie flat, horses are taken to the rear, and the men fire on the retreating Boers. The surrounding country is plainly shown in panorama. An excellent subject.
- Gen. Buller's 6th Brigade striking tents and marching off to battle. The picture gives a very good idea of the extent and character of a British camp in South Africa.
- DirectorGeorge Albert SmithStarsTom GreenMr. HunterThis is one of the greatest comic films ever placed on the market. Two well-fed and prosperous looking old gentlemen are examining, with great interest, an illustrated theatrical paper, which apparently recalls reminiscences of bygone days, and the humorous nature of their conversation, is indicated by the amused look on their faces, and their thorough enjoyment of the theme. The facial expression and gesture revealed by this film, is a most wonderful revelation of the art of moving picture photography, and the comic effect is so hearty and infectious that your audience will laugh with you. This film is a new one and has made the greatest hit of the season.

- A Dutch workman is in the habit of eating his dinner on a barrel in a back yard adjacent to a new house. Two mischievous boys appear on the scene. One of them, arming himself with a hose, goes under the barrel. The Dutchman comes along, places his basket on the barrel and begins eating his lunch, when the nozzle of the hose is stuck through a hole in the head of the barrel and the Dutchman is soaked. The boy under the barrel is captured and severely spanked. After rearranging his dinner on the barrel, the Dutchman walks away for a pint of beer, and the two boys again appear, and quickly turning the barrel upside down, they place the cloth over it and arrange the Dutchman's lunch around the edge of the barrel. The Dutchman returning, takes a glass of beer from the pail and places the pail on the barrel, and it quickly disappears. In his excitement in reaching for it, he falls into the barrel and gets badly tangled up. Very laughable.
